No reason not to think either could win. Auston will absolutely give Draisaitl a run for his money, but the big German is heating up again at the right time.

I think you have it backwards. Matthews is the reining Rocket Richard winner. Draisaitl will be in tough to win it, and is the one giving Matthews a run for his money, with Matthews being up by 6 goals before his suspension - which is the only reason he was able to tie him.

We need not make excuses for either guy. Draisaitl has 5 goals in his last two games, since Matthews' return from suspension. He's starting a heater by the looks of it. #34 will have every chance to respond in kind!

Both guys are playing games. Both guys could be injured on any night. I'm expecting a fantastic battle down the stretch between the two prolific goal scorers.

I think the Leafs will make a serious effort down the stretch to "feed" Matthews and give him every opportunity to win the scoring title. It's all in #34's hands now!

And the discussion is about the Rocket, not the Selke. Matthews is, clearly, the much better two-way forward. Not even a debate.

He has a 1.42 points per game after a 4 point night and Matthews has 1.37, they each had 1.38 before last night's game. Matthews has 2 games in hand so the Rocket will remain his while putting up a similar points per game.

Draisaitl still won't win though. It will probably be close, but then again he will have played 5 more games by the end of the season too so he has that going for him. Matthews still has 2 more games remaining though and has basically scored at a goal per game for the past 5 months now.

Weird thread. Let’s be realistic here, Drai was only able to tie him because Auston missed games and Drai entered the season on a crazy hot-streak. Otherwise Leon has nearly half the goals over the bulk of his season.
