It is utterly comical how much better Joe Thornton is than Patrick Marleau.
Make one and I'll be sure to post. It's really so surprising that there is not a huge Joe Thornton appreciation thread. Guy comes in here at 41, and plays as a top player - 1ppg, plays with our top players, and absolutely contributes to the line.
He looks like he's having the time of his life, too. Really using his size and strength. And bro definitely has some old man strength. Damn. Didn't think that was real.
Can you believe that riellys best partner before him was a 35+yr old Ron Hainsey?! Gotta give credit to Brodie for fitting in perfectly, and on dubas for a solid get. Super impressed at his quiet reliable playTJ Brodie is awesome.
Hearing the name "Ron Hainsey" gives me immediate flashbacks to every TV breakdown that resulted from his adventures in defending as a high ATOI guy in the NHL.Can you believe that riellys best partner before him was a 35+yr old Ron Hainsey?! Heaven forbid they actually give credit to the leafs being a good team eh?Oiler fans blaming the loss on scratching Bouchard.![]()
Yeah, I was just thinking about that last week.
If Kadri hadn't nixed the Calgary trade, we would have had Brodie last year itself and who knows how things end if we had him in our line up. There is a MASSIVE difference between Brodie and Barrie.
Bogosian is also a comfortable presence in the back end and a sizeable upgrade over Ceci, I don't really panic no matter which D pairing is on the ice.
Leafs are 6th in GA/G in the league right now, I doubt they have been that high in over 20+ years. This team is really good on both ends.

Hainsey was a smart player. A top defender at that age, he was not. That the leafs #3 guy is Jake the studMuzzin gives me warm fuzzies i havent felt in a decade watching this team. Oh, how times have changedHearing the name "Ron Hainsey" gives me immediate flashbacks to every TV breakdown that resulted from his adventures in defending as a high ATOI guy in the NHL.
I don't understand why people were shitting on Barabanov before. He reminds me of Sergei Samsonov.Couldn't watch this one live so just catching up late tonight. Woah! Just a solid textbook road performance. That third line was a machine, just consistently in the offensive zone and cycling. Tavares looked great on the top line.
I hope Marner's brilliance is not lost on any of us. He is unbelievably talented, it's mindblowing. Nylander-Kerfoot-Barabanov looked like they had good chemistry.
Defense was stout and what more can you say about Jack Campbell.
Marleau did pot 27 here in his first year and played 2 complete seasons, but yeah, Thornton fits the style a lot better so far.
Also, Brodie is perfect.
Apparently we're not "scary" to them.Heaven forbid they actually give credit to the leafs being a good team eh?
They have to pander to the country bumpkin. They buy cable too.I don't know what the opposite of homerism is called, but the TV guys at both Sportsnet and TSN all are that. 3-0, and they still couldn't get Edmonton's dick out of their mouth. Talking about how deep the Oilers team was, and why that is they were winning hockey games as Jason Spezza, fourth line C putting up 45 points scores on the rush.
For 5.45 million less of a cap hit.It is utterly comical how much better Joe Thornton is than Patrick Marleau.
Well, we still wouldn't be scary. We'd win, but it's tough to scare oilers fans. Have you ever been there in the dead of winter?!Apparently we're not "scary" to them.
Imagine what would've happened if our Franchise C and #1G had played.
No, I make more than minimum wageWell, we still wouldn't be scary. We'd win, but it's tough to scare oilers fans. Have you ever been there in the dead of winter?!
