Terrible scout, atrocious GM, and somehow even worse as an analyst

He is most definitely not a terrible scout lol. That Dallas Stanley cup team was made up of many of his draft picks.

He was an awful GM in Calgary, but his drafting track record is pretty good.

Auston starts a string of Harts to go with his string of Rockets… 60 goals will not be denied.

Matthews brought more intangibles than just his 60 goals in 73 games. He's masterful at taking the puck away from the opposition which can lead to offensive zone possession, which leads to more scoring chances and thus, more goals.

He's the best even strength goal scorer this season and every season since he's entered the NHL in 2016. It isn't overstated enough how difficult it is to score at that proficiency at five on five, let alone score goals at all at five on five.

He was top five in face-off win percentages with a 56.2%. Winning face-offs is game-changing, so this helps his team more than other people give credit for.

He backchecks and works hard on every shift to work on his overall defensive game.

I can list off about twenty other things to show off just how good he is, but it speaks for itself.

Matthews will win the Hart, it's not even close for me.

If you look at points per game average Matthews is just a tad lower than McPowerPlay, but in terms of goals it's no comparison, faceoffs, takeaways, not to mention all the analytic stats he is off the charts.

The only thing maybe preventing the Hart would be he missed 9 games due to injury. If he played 80 games like Mcdavid he'd easily have 65 goals and 115-ish points and there wouldn't be a discussion who's the Hart winner

Wow, shocking that Matthews made the top 3 despite all the strategic voting by clowns like Button.

I've seen this kind of nonsense in the past. I remember a couple of years back there was an Edmonton journo who kept MacKinnon off his ballot because he wanted McDavid/Draisaitl to win.
It definitely happened in the Iginla vs Theodore year.

a Montreal writer left Iginla off their ballot (top 5) when it was basically a complete one or the other year. Specifically to give Theodore a better shot at winning.

Stevens was on the verge of being a great player until he literally fell flat on his face.

Matthews is a slightly better version of Dave Andreychuk. Dave had 53 goals and 99 points and no one considered him worthy of an MVP award. Bossy scored 50 in 50 also no MVP award. No one who watches hockey without Leaf blinders on would consider Matthews anywhere near the talent that McDavid is. Matthews is simply a useful player, McDavid is a generational talent.

Post count adds up. If I were you I'd focus on your own team, they have their hands full with a dogshit kings team. Matthews is the best player in the NHL. He's generational. Making alt accounts is not going to change that.

Deserves to win it. Will not be upset if he doesn't, as you cannot take away from the great season he had.

Genuinely perplexed still how he didn’t get a Ted Lindsay finalist spot last year but great to see him get his first this year. Well deserved

Genuinely couldn't care less if he wins this if they lose Saturday.
These individual awards are meaningless if there's no team success.

So you are comparing Matthews to Bossy. Smart man.

Matthews ain't winning any voted awards. It already killed the NHL writers to give him the Calder in his rookie season. They have to keep that long streak of the Leafs never winning major awards that aren't entirely performance-based going.
