I think it's safe to say the start of the Matthews Captaincy hasn't gone according to plan.

Another mysterious ailment has the team's leader out. His wrist or shoulder or whatever the hell else might be wrong with him. You never know what's real and what's not with this team.

For all we know he's got an ingrown toenail.

I'm not saying Matthews is fragile. He hasn't hit official band-aid boy status yet. But he is in training.

Whatever it is that's bothering him I hope he gets better soon. Matthews is easily one of my all time favourite Leafs players. But as the old saying goes the best ability is availability.

Last thing this team needs is a Landeskog wannabe for Captain.
I don't remember this much noise when Clark was missing 40 games per season.

Granted there was no internet

The only thing that matters is if he's 100% day one of the playoffs.

At this point I don't care if he has to miss 25+ regular season games as long as he plays and delivers when it counts

Especially considering we don’t seem to be hurting without him.

What are the differences?
They did not go into detail, but it has to do with what is allowed with stem cell technologies.

It is a very famous doctor. He has helped a plethora of famous footballers overcome injuries, but also athletes like Usain Bolt.

Personally I don’t mind this. Give him all the help and rest necessary to excel in the playoffs. Please skip the Four Nations thing too.

Some folks really do think burying their head in the sand is the most logical thing

I believe they think it makes them look intelligent or something. These are the same folks that were on the rooftops singing the praises of Kyle Dubas while he destroyed the team. Acknowledging reality doesn't seem to give them the false sense of superiority, "Well actually this is what's really going on! :teach:"

Then they move on like they didn't just spend years writing BS essays trying to gaslight everyone.

I just don’t think whatever he has been dealing with suddenly going to be behind him in a week when Leafs are in Florida, I really don’t. Doubt we will see him before Christmas, at the earliest. I don’t trust a thing Leafs say.
I think it's the same thing he had in the playoffs what ever it was we Don't know

Not sure if this is sarcasm, but I've kinda heard some rumours it could be along the lines of players assistance. I'm not saying I believe it, but I'm not completely ruling it out either.

Organization handling this the way they are isn't helping matters, fuels speculation.
Let’s go with semi- sarcasm lol

He's going to come back and score a bunch of goals, and all of this will be forgotten for a period of time. But back injuries don't go away, so at some point it will re-emerge.

Not the most comforting thought to think how a "day to day" situation can evolve into international flights and stem cells.

Did he receive some sort of treatment in Germany that’s not yet approved in Canada or US? If it was a consultation it could easily been done via telemedicine.

Without knowing what it is, how can you say that?

I am just saying he went to Germany for treatment. This ailment is not suddenly gonna go away in a week. I am just skeptical. I am willing to eat my words if he is back on Sunday or next week.

it sucks that the team got destroyed but it definitely did and now there is no hope at all and no team really either anymore, because it's been destroyed

Do we know if he went for treatment or for consultation? What if it’s just something like lateral epicondylitis that wasn’t responding to approved injections here and went to Germany for something else. ( I don’t what treatments they allow)

All I’m saying if we don’t know we can speculate it’s really bad or not bad at all.

Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews 'Actually Improving' Following Medical Trip To Germany, Might Skate This Weekend

So his status has "improved" even though he's been downgraded from playing this weekend to "might skate" this weekend.

He should help the team for once and go on LTIR instead of this dog and pony show.
