[Matthew Tkachuk] Leafs would be unbelievable if the team wasn't in Toronto

Do you think they would be treated poorly for winning a cup?

Maybe I am misunderstanding what you're trying to say.

My opinion is based on what I have experienced around the city. I know how many ads and attention Toronto legends get around town. These are guys who didn't even win a cup.
The respect for ex Leafs is fantastic. All players have to do is give everything they’ve got to win. Marner and Nylander are way too soft to be included in the group if respected players.

Both Tkachuks would probably do well in Toronto.
They are such larger than life figures, with a suitable amount of "don't give a damn", that I think they would absolutely thrive in that environment, in every way.

Hayes and O-Dog asking how it’s possible we’re having this convo for a 7th straight year (excusing the first couple playoff exits) is a real pressure cooker for sure!!

This thread is off the rails...just bickering and insults...mostly with fans that lost or didn't even make the playoffs

I am truly sorry that the state of FLORIDA has been the center of the hockey universe for these past 5 or 6 years.

I see it eats some of you up. Wow...just wow...

You can be as pissed off as you want, by all means do it.

Don't f***ing dox them and threaten their family because you're upset over a loss. That's where the line gets crossed, and it gets crossed way too f***ing much nowadays across sports (its getting particularly bad in Formula 1 right now).
Case in point

M. Tkachuk would eat that shit up, he'd be king of Toronto.
He had his chance in Calgary.

He literally ran away as if Calgary was Zach Kassian the first chance he got.

But good for him for being the 2nd/3rd best player on the lowest pressure team in the league. Maybe one day he can be THE guy (not this year either I guess)

Ignorant and arrogant is a helluva personality combination, one that is shared by many of the “gatekeepers” here.

Oh, I almost forgot envious

and bitter....

I’d hate this little-brother shit the Panthers are pulling in the media so much if I was a Leafs player lol
I don’t know if I saw/heard everything that was said, but the post game comments all seemed sincere and not trying to troll anyone. Are Chukky’s comments on the podcast the main thing causing this stir?

Yeah, because god forbid he didn’t want to play and live in Calgary. The Panthers old ice den had better amenities than that trash barn of Calgray’s. Oh I forgot though, he came out and said “I don’t want to p,at here in Canada, the pressure is too high.” :biglaugh:

Lot of petty and immature comments on here. At least try and be creative and original in the criticism. People act like they actually did something themselves. Embarrassing, this is just entertainment in the end.

That's probably what it was, this is just how he admits it.

They have 58 years to be creative, including about 20 or so years of Panthers history, and all they can come up with is our 10 fans. Weak, just as their team.

Stanley Cup champions and beloved coaches and athletes took time out of their quest to win back to back cups to call out the parasitic leafs media and how that unrealistically changes fans perceptions, and multiple people in this thread immediately ran to that selfsame parasitic media for denial and comfort. Like no shit the guy who makes a living from exaggerating anything related to the leafs will deny that he’s part of a problem.

Your SC champs and beloved coaches can take a hike. It's on the players who can't get it done. Fans and media have nothing to do with it. Of course players and coaches wanna blame anyone but themselves. By the way, not once did any actual Leafs player or coach ever insinuated that the pressure is too much in this market. Having a lot of fans and a lot of media attention is a good thing, it's a good thing when people care.

They did take a hike, straight off to Raleigh.

Some players expressed their opinion, why is everyone so bent over them doing so?
it’s their opinion :dunno:

Panthers players are just jealous they aren’t as famous as Matthews, Marner, Nylander and tavares

Soon they won’t even be as famous as Matthew knies

Not sure. I'm sure they'd do well on any team, but "Don't give a damn" is sort of the last phrase I'd use to describe Brady, the guy cares more than anyone. He also seemed to be pretty frustrated this year with untrue rumors about him wanting to leave Ottawa and he was pretty upset last year when the crowd started booing because they wanted DJ Smith fired. So I can't imagine how he'd handle the Toronto crowd throwing beer and booing one of his teammates every time they touch the puck or the 24/7 rumors that happen in the Toronto media.

Toronto would definitely appreciate Brady's passion and work ethic, but every city would.

I think a guy like Barkov would be a better fit to build around in Toronto. A European dude who is just kind of quiet but a consistent all-around star player. I feel like he'd be able to tune out the noise, whereas guys like the Tkachuks try to feed off the noise.
