MAGA isn't one side of the political spectrum.
It’s amazing he somehow has all of those qualities that you admire....
Perhaps “maga” people aren’t the evil monsters we’ve all been fearmongered into believing they are? Seriously, dude. It’s scary how people just blindly gobble up any bullshit being peddled by the obviously biased media. So much of what they say as fact has been proven to be misrepresentations, or half truths, if not outright lies. We all need to do better.

matthew has personality? HAHAHAHA

And McDavid does? McDavid would sip espresso out of the cup with his pinky finger sticking up, probably in that quiet sushi bar they booked out in Miami, when they thought they’d win after Gm 6. Tkachuk has more personality in HIS pinky finger, than the whole Edmonton Oilers team. “HAHAHAHA”

Being a douchebag isn’t considered a personality.

I reckon a glimpse into Panther's group dynamics would be fitting here:

"It can't be overstated, the character and ... I don't know if it's the right word, but the grace of each guy. If you came into the meal room, you wouldn't ... know ... who's ... who," Zito said, pounding his hands on the table for emphasis. "You didn't know who scored the winning goal. You didn't know who didn't play. I think that, as much as anything, is a testament to those guys and their character."

"That room that we have is so welcoming. Your personality fits almost no matter what it is. The more unusual your personality, the more you're going to fit in our room," Maurice said. "As long as you do those four or five things you need to do, everybody gets to be themselves."

What makes that chemistry work?

"That's all Barkov, truly," Maurice said.

"[Barkov] is like a magnet. You just find yourself gravitating towards him," Schmidt said. "You see what Cap does and it just kind of trickles its way all the way through the lineup. There's just no other way to do it. It's not like he's not a vocally imposing person. It's just, you need to do it because it feels like you have to do it for him."

Zito likened Barkov to a planet with "all the energy that comes from him" as a leader.

"It starts with Sasha," the GM said. "Paul's talked about this. I've talked about it. The players have talked about it. The only person who doesn't [get] talked about it is Sasha. How caring he is as a human and as a teammate. He makes you want to be a better person. So then it's easy to have the positive aspects of your personality come through. It's like he pulls it out of you."

Not surprised by anything in the article.

This article could have been written about Gretzky and the 80s Oilers

One thing I find funny is how they make this distinction between on-ice and off-ice personality.

Sam Bennett raises money for orphaned animals, great. But the guy also plays in a manner that causes injuries to opponents- intentionally.

Being a P.O.S. on the ice is still being a P.O.S as a person.

An agitator is one thing, going after people's health os another

Merely a reference to it's association wirh conservatives/Republicans given Democrats/liberals aren't MAGA supporters

This maybe clear thing up for you, matthew is a redneck

My observation had been that successful organizations always start at the top.

I can't recall a successful team who was known to have horrible ownership and/or lousy hoxkey operations people.

Could the Winnipeg Jets ever become good wirh John Ferguson or Mike Smith at the helm? Leafs wirh Ballard? Blackhawks with Bill Wirtz?

I have always been interested in successful organizations and what rhey tend to have in common and a common thread is a top down structure where everyone knows and is held accountable to do their job properly, focused on what needs to be done to he sucxessful rather than get bogged down with mistakes.

I would think Maurice is successful because Zito et al let him do his thing without interference or making him believe one mistake and he's done
i should have added Zito and Viola, probabaly the most important thing is Viola
and dont forget Jagrs influence on Barkov

edit: zito also Credited Patrik Hornqvist arrival to the panthers to help build the culture

MAGA BS aside (this pains me greatly as a fan...), he is by all accounts an exemplary human being off the ice. makes a fuss over and takes care of everybody in his life, whether that's trainers, hotel staff, rink managers, janitors, etc. apparently learned that from walt. i don't know him or follow him around but this narrative is pervasive. i've heard from maurice among many others.
whats your analysis of this
