It's tough because normally you applaud players who play like Poitras, who win races against bigger players and put themselves in harms way to win pucks and make plays.

Marchand needs to take him under his wing and teach him how to slip under and either evade or absorb those big shots because you don't want him Poitras to suddenly become Ryan Spooner. And hockey is physical, he has to learn how to handle that contact.

I think he looks a lot stronger this year and I’m not worried about it. In five years imagine how strong he will be? He works the boards as good as anyone. And his ability to put the puck on the open man’s stick makes me very happy. He also pretty much always gets back when he turns it over. I’d love to see how his speed compares to the rest of the league.

Of players coming out of no where when he isn’t near the puck? You’re acting like farabee is some sort of head hunter too. He isn’t. This was just incidental contact. It happens.

But on my part, what I've seen of Savard in Boston versus MP,
I do beleive that Savard had a hotter temperament, at least with the Bruins. Not sure MP will have Savard's snarl.

I also beleive he might get hurt more than less.

Under normal circumstances, any competent GM would have Poitras and also Lohrei developing their game in the AHL.
Neither is ready and physically mature for a full season of 82 NHL games yet.

ok? Whatever skill you want to assign that stops him from getting rocked on a regular basis, he needs to get better at. This isn't the first time he's gotten wrecked during games. Watching tapes on how Marchand absorbs hits isn't the worst idea I've seen on here.

I don't see him this way.My gripe with him is he holds pucks to long and then bumped off pucks with his size.Wish he could use his backhand more to move pucks instead of having to turn himself completely around.It would free up the give and go more.

Difference between Marchand and Poitras, physically, ends with their weight, Marchand is a very strong and well balanced on his skates. Poitras just needs to keep his head, don't watch his passes and shots, keep his feet moving, and be aware...... With that said, good luck kid, wish you the best.

I was reading bio on Flyers Michkov and had him listed at 148lbs.I was like ,no way that is correct ,just no way.

Sam Bennett is listed at 193 Lbs and plays like 220! It is more than weight!
Bedard is listed at 185! I was surprised.
MP is 180but he gets hit it looks like he is 150!

Marchand is listed at 5.9. I met him once and IMO he is not 5.9. Never met Bedard... but NHL listing of the height and weight of players are not a reference I would bet on.

You are fixating on one specific incident which was a catalyst for my general comment that he gets rocked too much and hurt because of it. If you disagree with that, fine, but getting pedantic about a play which highlights the fact that the kid gets wrecked too much in general is indeed missing the point.

Maybe the Bruins should get bigger and better prepared to deal with teams trying to rough them up. Oh wait...

Yeah, if that was Hathaway then I'd be suspicious. Farabee? It was incidental contact.

And yes, Poitras needs to be more aware in general.

Potter has a ton of skill. Skates at times with chin on chest. Seems unaware of board distance. Can he correct it ? Of course he can. My thoughts are won’t play over 65 games in a season and if the Bruins can get back to playing and winning multiple playoff rounds then he will not make it thru 1.5 rounds. Hope I am wrong.
