He's going to be one of the best Power Forwards in the league and being a LW helps this team as well. He's getting meaner and meaner, but is also so fast and lethal near the net. When I watch him play he's looking to speed up the game and get into rough stuff at this same time...and I'm not seeing a lot of opponents wanting to match him lol. I think that's where the Legion of Doom stuff is coming in. Knies wants to play a fast and mean, a total throwback of the 90s.

Giving Berube a guy like him in the top 6 oh man

Okay seriously extend this kid for as long as you can right now. You can see the confidence growing all the time. He’s bowling over people, taking the puck hard to the net. It’s not going to get any cheaper.

We have a history of putting guys in great positions to get points right before having to sign him. Why can’t we get ahead on a long term deal for once.

I think he's a perfect candidate for a long term deal.

He hasn't broken out offensively yet, so there's actually a chance to get him locked in on a longer term deal. The team will likely have to overpay for the first season or two but the savings will be there for the majority of the year.

The price of established power forwards always spikes, so avoiding that would be ideal

I’d say right now he and McCabe are my two favourite players. Love the way they play.
Have to think we will start to see more Knies jerseys around the building soon.

His style of game along with McMann has been so refreshing
They are not going out there to kill anyone, but enough to be disruptors

Reminds me bit of mix between John Leclair and Keith Primeau, defensively responsible yet can be physical

Good throwback comparison. I was thinking that with Knies and McMann we hadn't had two power-forwards in our top six since Gary Roberts and Owen Nolan were here together for a spell shortly before the 04-05 lockout. Hopefully this go around we can get healthy postseasons from this iteration.

Also, funnily enough both duos are the same years apart in age, with Roberts and McMann being older than Nolan and Knies by 6 years.

Perhaps Knies is the reason we haven't locked him up?

It takes two to tango.

This and it’s still a gamble for the player. If I were Knies I would have negotiated before the season. If he fails to pot 20 or gets hurt he’ll be worth a little less than what he was in September.

Now the focus has to be an 8 year deal for Knies. None of this 4 or 6 year stuff.

He's not going to take an eight year deal unless we're giving him 6.5 or 7m. If he's got any guts or confidence whatsoever, and his agent isn't a moron, he knows that he's got potential coming out his ears and if he can sign a deal in two or three years it could be massive.

He's very likely to want a bridge so that he can cash in once he's really broken out.

If it’s 6.5 on an 8 year deal I’d sign that immediately if I was the leafs. A better deal the byfield

I think he'd consider a 6 year deal for less than 7. 5-6ish and id pull the trigger on it from the teams pov

I’m thinking 20 goals, 35-ish assists this season. That’s about 75 points I figure.
