I'm really excited to see Knies, and I believe we should keep him, and I'm hopeful that he will be awesome in the playoffs, but he will never have been in a game that's remotely as intense as what the first round against Tampa will be.

Isn't it tough for a kid to come in and go straight to playoff hockey against one of the best teams in the league? Is this a normal thing? Generally asking ..

I only worry about defensive mistakes in close games vs TB
Cale Makar played his first 10 NHL games in the playoffs and put up 6pts. Not saying Knies is on that level but could be

Whether he makes an impact in the playoffs or not very excited about him
Hopefully other fans have that patience with him but we all know how many fans are... He's 20 years old. He just happens to be built like a 30 year old that's been in the NHL for 10 years.

I think he needs an offensive line. Dont play Knies with Kampf. Im ok with Accirari I guess. Knies with Acciari and Jarnkrok/Kerfoot is probably what we are looking at. The idea of ROR with him is nice but I dont like Jarnkrok or kerfoot in the top 6.
Our other fools line schenn acciari and lafferty and bunting will totally defend knies when he arrives. And mccabe too will punch some. Our errrry fool will be punching suckas out as soon as the playoffs begin. Only fights will come. Knies will also hold is own. He a big man for REAL. yall gotta love lezife

Yes if he decides to sign.
That's a given...

“Hopefully I can join them at the end of the season,” Knies says.

“Once I’ve matured myself as a player, I think that's when I can make the step and kind of give the Leafs a boost and try to make them a better team.”

Why? Kerfoot is probably better suited to play with ROR in the bottom 6, but Jarnkrok has looked amazing in the top 6. Like 60 point pace amazing.

Amazing? What were you watching? Serviceable, I guess, but not top six material and that seems obvious. Playing with Marner and JT, stat padding as mostly an opportunistic passenger, don’t confuse yourself. Engvall would have tracked 60 with Mitch, so? I don’t mind the guy, he has a good motor and decent speed and hands, but he’s best suited playing 14 minutes, asking more and elevating, to me that speaks to weakness.

Is this kid eligible to play for us this season?

looking at the Big 10 tourney there first game is March 11th and the Big 10 Championships are March 18 with Regionals on March 23-26. the Frozen Four starting on April 6th and the National championship on April 8th. I believe should Minnesota lose any of those games there season would be over and would allow him to sign with the Leafs and play from there on out. so even if they made the national championship game he might be able to play 1 or 2 regular season games before the playoffs if he's ok with a quick turn around.

edit: if they lose in the Big 10 I think they would still get a birth in regionals but not entirely sure of the process

I think Knies is going to be the icing on the cake to an incredible playoffs where we dispatch TB, Boston and whoever else survives the East, to play for the Cup.

I dunno anything about college hockey but here's previous winners of this award that have NHL significant experience:

2021 - Cole Caulfield. Legit NHL goal scorer.

2019 - Cale Makar. Not much else to say.

2018 - Adam Gaudette, seems like a late bloomer at best who will likely be a career tweener.

2017 - Wil Butcher, hasn't solidified himself in the NHL yet. In and out of Buffalo and New Jersey's lineups.

2016 - Jimmy Vesey, ditto.

2015 - Jack Eichel. Has had injury issues think he'll probably be the future of the Golden Knights.

2014 - Johnny Gaudreau. What else needs to be said?

2013 and prior - From here until 2002, it's mostly guys who never made the NHL. In 2002 it was Jordan Leopold who had an alright career and in 2001 it was Ryan Miller who had a great career.

Knies is going to come into a great situation now that we have veterans that can show him the right way to play.

He will probably start on the 4th line with
Accuri and Kampf

O'REILLY
Accuri
JT
Kampf
