He’s a great player. No doubt he plays on a great line but he adds a new dimension the Leafs were lacking and I think he’s a guy who is going to profile as a very good post-season player as he gains more experience and responsibility.
He’s a natural scorer…while 19.6% shooting is high and will end up being a touch higher than a career average - it’s not like he’s shooting 25%. This won’t be the only season he’s around that mark and he’s got the capacity to be relied upon more as a trigger man in the future rather than an opportunistic “connector” which is basically what he’s been this year (Bobby McMann has more shots on goal, for example). I think he’s a regular 35-40 goal type scorer as he becomes more assertive with development, a power forward with the ability to play in the pace and transition of a high-tempo offense. There aren’t a ton of guys like that.
