Dylan Guenther remains his best comp, imo.
Signed 8x7.1M, which starts next season.
A bridge, especially without any UFA years being purchased, should be considerably cheaper than that - which is the route I think this goes.

There's no deadline here - Leafs retain negotiating control, and there's no need to rush this.

Think we (myself included) are getting prematurely antsy about a negotiation that is playing out the way most negotiations play out - it's a process. Sounds like both sides want to get a deal done.

To add to this - he also mentioned that after July 1st, RFAs can sign offer sheets. Which is true.

He didn't say anything about Knies flirting with an offer sheet or threatening to sign one.

I don’t see how peterka influences knies contract considering his substantially better

He had 50 points in his 22 year old season on Buffalo playing less than knies with worse linemates, whereas knies had 58 points playing with Matthews and Marner.

This year he had 68 in 77 coming tied 2nd on his team for points whereas knies came 5th on his team


Not to mention apparently he wants to be here, vs peterka getting traded and having no connection to the team.
