I don't know about most people but 7x5 seems fine to me. I don't think the 2m savings is worth it with the cap going up and what he would be projected to make 3 years from now.

I would argue 5 years is long term, even if it isn't the max. I'd prefer 8, but if 5 is on the table I take that.

if the reports of 7-8 on a 3-5 years is true, then he isn't any different than the core 4

he should be getting 7-8 on max term, on a medium term it should be 6 and bridged it should be 4.5

he is a beast, but he hasn't seperated himself from Slafkovsky considering his linemates, he isn't better than guenther and he isn't a wyatt johnston level to get 8 on a medium term.

He's a great young power forward, but he isn't worth 7-8 on short to medium terms

There needs to be a culture change here in regards to RFA contracts. You don’t get the high AAV, favourable term, max signing bonus, AND the NMC.

Tom Wilson signed for about 7.4% of the cap as a pending UFA I believe, which is around $7 mill AAV on the cap for next season.

Juraj Slafkovsky got 7.6x8
Matt Boldy got 7x7

FFS 8x3 is a higher cap percentage than what point signed for, and if you use the tax excuse than it’s barely less than barzal got.

Knies should have 3 options:
A) go short term and bridge for 4.5x3
B) go medium term and sign 5.5-6x5
C) go long term and sign 7.5-8x8
