Rangers need a 4th line with an identity. I have said this for a while. Playing guys with different styles of games on the 4th line is a mistake imo. Either play 3 physical guys or play 3 speed guys. Tell that line they need to be a speedy swarming line or a line that hits everything. Right now they look like a chinese chow mein dish topped with pepperoni and sprinkles. All good things individually but not as a group.

Rempe looks like a lost puppy Great Dane out there. Scared to do anything that might get called. Gets benched in the 3rd. Throws hands at weird times. If the argument is NYR play 10feet taller with him in the lineup, then maybe the argument should be get players who don't need Rempe in the lineup to play. I don't hate him but he's clearly not ready for an every game 4th line role. It's probably not fair on him that his leash is way too short to focus on just forechecking and disrupting plays, but other than showing some balls, he's not bringing much right now. Somehow he's even losing the board battles.

I'd like to see Chmelar in Rempe's place, assuming he isn't traded. Kid is a freight train and actually can play a little hockey.

Rempe needs to improve his fighting technique. Needs to work on getting inside and using his size/strength.

Fighting 101. When Xhekaj locked him out, you twist your body, throw a dominant hand uppercut into the body, tug down on Xhekaj's right arm wtih your left, raise your fist inside of his left arm, and start throwing short punches in tight. If Xhekaj releases your left with his right to either counter or try to control your right, you switch to your left. If Xhekaj ducks his head, you switch hands and jersey jab with your right while using your right arm to lock out his left and look to come from underneath with the left if you get an opportunity since Wifi won't be able to monitor your left while getting jabbed and ducking. If Xhekaj switches to his left and starts throwing, you either throw toe to toe, or you lock him out and force him to throw hooks from outside.

What you don't do is stay locked out and try to throw hooks over Xhekaj's arm while leaving the right side of your face completely exposed.

Rempe needs to ignore fighting entirely and learn how to be an actual hockey player first and then learn fighting technique after.

I was a pretty good hockey fighter in my day at 5'10" and it pains me to see Rempe fight. Whatever he learned over the summer he hasn't applied at all. Imagine having all that reach and yet way smaller guys are dying to take him on. He still doesn't tie up his opponent's right arm and eats a lot of punches.

Hey, but he has a hell of a backhand shot. He scored with it and went back to it again later. Maybe he can teach Mika to start going back to his fake and backhand breakaway goals instead of just shooting into the goalie's glove every time.

Well that's a sample size fallacy. You telling me Tough-as-nails WI-FI now represents the entirety of all small players looking to take him on? Come off it. Rempe has two fights this season. Most players don't want to get involved with him. Tkachuk would only go bump Rempe when he wasn't looking and then run away. He only punched Rempe in the scrum because he had a linesman protecting him from a full beat down. If Brady really wanted a fight, he would have let go of Rempe and skating to center ice to invite a showdown.

I didn't mention anything about Brady or tonight.

Speaking of sample size fallacy. He maybe only has 2 fights as a Ranger (hard to fight when you barely play), but he has fought in the AHL this year and in the past.

I said smaller guys and mentioned reach advantage. Look at Felix from the AHL. He looked like a dwarf next to Rempe, but he had no hesitation to fight Rempe.

People may not want to be crushed by Rempe in a check against the boards, but when it comes to fighting him, fighters that should be intimidated by his reach advantage aren't because Rempe is a really bad fighter. You believe what you want. No offense if you guys are related.

I don't look at AHL fights because there are still so many goons who will fight for haribo gummy bears. I'm including this year and last. He had 5 fights last year. Welcome to the NHL tilt with Matt Martin. That was great. Then Deslauriers, Olivier, Reaves. He got the major for head contact vs Bastian + Seigenthaler which turned into a whole saga culminating into a very memorable and entertaining line brawl. His tilt vs MacDermid. Dylan "Grim Reaper" McIlrath this season. He's taken on all the heavy weights. No one but the other heavy weights (this includes Wifi) want to fight him. I don't know who these small guys are but AHL goons/scrubs don't count in my book.

He's had to tone down his hitting game but I absolutely think that's a more important part of his game than whatever fights he gets into.

As far as the fights he's had though he's fighting the guys he should fight and he's going to lose some of those. And by fighting the right guys I mean the best fighters in the league. That's how a player can really get good at it. Who are the best?---MacDermid, Reaves, Olivier, Xhekaj, Jeannot, Deslauriers are on that list and maybe a few others. He's taken on everyone on that list with the exception of Jeannot. McIlrath he's struggled against twice--once in the AHL and once in the NHL. Dylan is very technical. Head up---watches what he's doing---very good at avoiding punches.

Maybe his best game against the Senators. A little over 9 minutes of ice time. Not credited with that many hits---2 but battling with Tkachuk a couple times and 4 shots on goal---at least 3 very close in clear shots and nice hands on the one he finished. His line with Carrick and Edstrom very effective against the Senators.

Anyway my thoughts on where Rempe is as of today.
