There's still plenty of room for him to improve into a full time 4th liner in the NHL. And I think it starts and ends with his edgework.

That is really my only knock on him.

Thinking he will be anything more than a 4th line player is putting way too much on his shoulders. That said, if he can get his feet under himself? Stop falling, skating to the puck or where it's headed, not past it or where it was. He clearly thinks the game well enough. He has better offensive instincts and tools than most enforcers. He's more than adequate with speed.

Learn control and timing at NHL SPEED, and he's gonna have a worthwhile NHL career.

It's a small tweak to make, but for his role and the competition for a spot, it's the difference between leagues and or the stands.

He's gotta be reliable for 10 minutes a night and not get smoked by another teams top 6 when it's shut-down time.

Although it still feels early, is there any chance Berard gets the callup? Or is it for sure just an open spot for Vesey?

Really excited to see Berard get into a Pro game when it happens. He's been a fun prospect to follow as an outsider, love the way he plays.

Cheers!
barring injuries no one is getting called up at this point imo. Vesey is almost back and then we have a full 13 Fs

I don’t see them wasting him on a 4th line so no.

His path to the NHL will be if/when someone in the top 9 gets hurt or traded.

He might still be on the team if he didn't waste a week of his off-season learning to fight, and another day filming a commercial, when he could have been learning how to turn.

But as someone else pointed out, he will probably be challenged to fight by every goon in the AHL.
He doesn't have to accept any of those. He doesn't have to prove anything to anyone by fighting anymore. Now it's more important to focus on his actual play, and hopefully he realizes that.

I still believe he can be a regular 4th liner in the NHL. Could probably be that in some other teams right now.

Just as an aside. The Rangers play the Canadiens again on Nov. 30 at MSG. Arber Xhekaj who didn't play in the last one was asked about Trouba's hit on Barron and he didn't like it and said he would remember. I think the Montreal team is going to remember not just that hit but the beatdown on the scoreboard in front of their own crowd. Xhekaj is a seriously good fighter and Josh Anderson and Michael Pezzetta aren't bad. I think Jacob is going to have to answer the bell again and against someone a bit more serious than Mike Matheson. He might be able to hang with Anderson or Pezzetta but if he gets into a dustup with Xhekaj my guess is if it goes any length he'll get his ass handed to him. So he best be ready but the Rangers team better be ready for that one too. Knowing Trouba though Canadiens players better have their heads up because he plays the way he plays. I don't think there is any way other than not being in the lineup that Trouba gets out of this game without fighting somebody. Rempe in the lineup for this game might be helpful for us though. Just saying.

Trouba is very capable of just laughing at someone trying to start a fight with him. He answers the bell when he lays someone out. He already did. Xhekaj can remember anything he wants. And put his team down a man.
BUT… yeah, might be fun and useful to dress Rempe for that. Hahaha.
Trouba, Schneider, Edstrom, Carrick, Cuylle can all go too. Kreider, Troch and Laf are no pushovers. Kakko is learning to push back. Mancini is a big kid, Lindgren can take a beating… Even without Rempe I’m not worried about Montreal feeling froggy.
