Every time he hits someone, EVERY TIME, there will be calls of "dirty" or "suspend him" regardless of the legality. His size alone means every hit is "intent to injure". Unless he love taps someone, all his hits will be hard and hurt the guy. Ranger fans are never going to hear the end of it from every other fan in the league, non stop. Need to tune that out, but it is what it is.

This was a bad, dumb hit and he is the kind of player that never had a chance to get the benefit of the doubt from puck drop at Met Life probably through the end of his career. It isn't going to get any better for him.
Hate to say it but this 100 percent. The guy is just too big, fast and mean with the way he plays. I mean some fans are still crying about the Lyubushkin hit. He's gonna make a similar hit many many more times in the future. He most likely will not get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to public perception.

RempeNation!

Word of advice, this is not a warning but a suggestion to avoid warnings. I would tread very lightly in the main Rempe thread, maybe even avoid it all together but that’s your choice.

I expect news to be released soon and depending what the punishment is, tempers are going to rise.
Wonder if 4 is temper rise worthy. I hoped for 2-3 for that matter.

If this hit was against a Ranger player a lot of you would be singing a different tune. It was a bad hit and his petty wave or whatever that was pretty pathetic as well.

I think he can be a solid 4th liner but he is a distraction and there is no way he gets any leeway from the refs the rest of the season. He's a marked man
A distraction from what? We are 7-3 with him in the lineup and have been playing some of our best hockey of the year. There is absolutely no distraction. If anything they rally around him.

Outscoring teams 8-2 when he has 15 or more PIMS. I say rack the sh** up

Way too long

Brad Marchand has been suspended 6 times now.....so how long was his last suspension ? It is hard to understand how they come to a solution on how many games is deemed right . I figure first timer he should have got a game or two at the most . I think there was so much whining from Toronto they added two on for that to shut the whiners down. Oh well.....coaches and players will work with him and hopefully somebody pays his fine .

We got a dandy on our hands and then we will add 3-4 more guys in the next two seasons ......this is starting to be fun . I have preached for toughness for years.....my prayers have been answered LMAO.....he will need the games off to do all his interviews ...... He will be like an early version of the eclipse on his return .

LMAO!!

Watch the video. When a guy is right, he's right. Whether you like him or not.

Where did you hear this? I can't find anything so far.

I've already said what I thought of the hit. That it was bad and he was going to get suspended. I was figuring low 3 and high 5 and right in the middle is four.

But on the subject of Subban here whether he's right or wrong he's still a shit messenger.

It was a bad hit.

Deserved at least 2-3, but they gave him an extra one to make an example out of it, since its Rempe and the whole league is watching. They are protecting him against himself in keeping him out of the game against the Isles lol

Take your medicine and move on.

He does have to learn from this though.

Regardless of if he was bracing himself or not, his elbow is at temple level for the majority of the league. Just like you have to control your stick you need control your appendages.

4 games is fine. Try to nip it in the bud now with the larger suspension and wake him the hell up about how he needs to control himself, even if it wasn't malicious.

Just like you gotta keep control of your stick, you gotta keep control of your body. Rempe is not the first player to be as tall as he is, and he won't be the last, but all players regardless of height need to learn to control themselves. You can't just hand wave this away as "but he's tall"

That seems excessive but I'm sure the NHL is making a point because of who he is.

Yeah, a Ranger.
I'm being told that the suspension would've been reduced to a fine had he agreed to fight as per code. Down a character witness in the form of highly regarded Kurtis MacDermid (muppet name notwithstanding), he basically had no hope.

Four is a bit steep. Blame NHL scheduling. Four division games in a row, two on national television over the weekend. Can’t have Rempe come back and plaster Sid.

It let’s him come back at home against the Jets where there is no animosity

Good suspension. He really needs to learn to control himself. That was unacceptable last night and could have really cost us. You can see him with late hits all the time or going for a hit and completely whiffing leaving him out of position. Take the hits that are there and play a smart game and it'll all work out nicely.

I can see him become a repeat offender.

I like the kid, but after the elbow, he should have fought MacDermid.

We just went up 2-0 - a lot due to Rempe - and then it just deflated the moment. I hope the Devil player is okay, I definitely think he’s concussed.

To not fight after that? Wasn’t a good look for the kid.

Yeah, you're not going to convince me that the Neanderthal attitude and the "unwritten rules" bullshit isn't super cringe and has no place in our society in 2024.

It's archaic crap.

FWIW: 4 games for Rempe is the right call. We can argue all day about the lack of consistency in the NHL but this was 100% the right call IMO
