A Murray strenght is that he rarely get "dephased" by the action in front of him, he stays "square" as much as possible and in position to make the next save.
Probably my favorite "veteran move" this offseason, it was important to get a goalie that could help stabilize a young inexperienced team (well, even if it's a team full of veterans finally)
We really need him to be a calming steady veteran presence. Andy gave us some really great years but he's going to be 40 y/o in May so it was normal that his play started to drop the last few years, whih is also one of the reasons the team fell apart in 2017-18. And Dorion/pro scouting staff made a mistake thinking Mike Condon would be a solid 1B goalie to back-up Andy. I thought the extension was a mistake right away
Found my old post (2017)
I have no problem with Andy's contract, he deserves it... but why is Condon making so much money for so long?
Condon is a decent back-up but IMO another overrated goalie (pedestrian numbers, was really good for a stretch, and then really bad). Just like when I was saying that Hammond was not a good NHL quality goaltender, right in the middle of his "miracle run". I never had much faith in Ray Emery too. I lost faith quickly in Elliott. Always had faith in Andy, him and Hasek are the only 2 Sens goalies I really trusted.
So I'm really hoping that Matt Murray becomes the 3rd Sens goalie I feel I confident with when he is in front of the net.
