Murray was really good last night. He probably should've had Thornton's goal but can't really fault him on the others especially considering he bailed out the team and their complete inability to clear the puck from their own zone.

Murray looked great.

Every other scramble in front of our net feathured Andy lying on his back somehow out of the play. I've never seen so many goals go into an empty net on an NHL starter where he'd lost his net.

Murray came as advertised. He looked really steady in the net and calm. Tavares beat him from the dot ubder the glove off the post and in. Thornton looked at Matthews and then shot. Beat him under that glove.

The glove seems a bit of an issue but to my eyes, no question he's going to help this team.

A Murray strenght is that he rarely get "dephased" by the action in front of him, he stays "square" as much as possible and in position to make the next save.

Probably my favorite "veteran move" this offseason, it was important to get a goalie that could help stabilize a young inexperienced team (well, even if it's a team full of veterans finally)

We really need him to be a calming steady veteran presence. Andy gave us some really great years but he's going to be 40 y/o in May so it was normal that his play started to drop the last few years, whih is also one of the reasons the team fell apart in 2017-18. And Dorion/pro scouting staff made a mistake thinking Mike Condon would be a solid 1B goalie to back-up Andy. I thought the extension was a mistake right away

Found my old post (2017)

I have no problem with Andy's contract, he deserves it... but why is Condon making so much money for so long?

Condon is a decent back-up but IMO another overrated goalie (pedestrian numbers, was really good for a stretch, and then really bad). Just like when I was saying that Hammond was not a good NHL quality goaltender, right in the middle of his "miracle run". I never had much faith in Ray Emery too. I lost faith quickly in Elliott. Always had faith in Andy, him and Hasek are the only 2 Sens goalies I really trusted.

So I'm really hoping that Matt Murray becomes the 3rd Sens goalie I feel I confident with when he is in front of the net.

Murray's rebound control scares me sometimes but I don't think it's much worse than the average goaltender. Besides that I've loved what I've saw from him so far. He is seeming to read plays a lot better this year, maybe a sign of some confidence coming back. There was one play Saturday night where Matthews was going for the big one-timer on the powerplay play but Murray read the play perfectly and made it look like a routine save.

Grats to Murray and the Sens. Great contract for both sides. Glad to see he's doing well too.

been average so far imo. That's an ok point to start at as long as he doesn't slip below this baseline, and hopefully is able to build on it and improve a notch or two

He hasn’t been lights out or anything but I think he’s been very good. I always feel a calming presence from him that really helps a young team. Anyone who has played hockey knows how much having a weak goalie in net changes the way you play. I feel totally confident that he’s not gonna be losing any games for us and I bet the players feel the same way.

I thought Murray looked okay. Better the first game just like the rest of the team.

He already looks like twice the goaltender Anderson has been capable of for the last 3 years, so I think there's no doubt he will pay huge dividends if Anderson's poor play is your measuring stick. He just looks so much more composed and confident, not shaky making poor decisions and constantly out of position.

I don’t know, 4 years is a long time. Could be a bad contract

Murray is playing well, it's a number of the other players who need replacing starting with Coburn, Galchenyuk, Anisimov, Stepan & Paquette.

Not ready to write Murray off just yet, the rest of the team around him is pretty bad at this point. I don’t think this wasn’t expected this year either.

Sure but we already knew the only this team can have a half-decent record is with great goaltending.
Sure but we also knew that this team was probably going to be near the bottom of the league again & it would most likely be another transition yr.
