Well, his name is Mats Zuccarello Awesome.

It sure as hell is. I'll update the title.

What a player he has been since coming back.

EDIT: To whoever it was that brought up the fact that he didn't get votes in our prospect poll--that's not really fair. You had people like me that didn't vote for him because I didn't think he'd be coming back over to the States. You also had a lot of people that wouldn't vote for him because they didn't consider him a prospect, due to age/experience and all that.

In one of those threads I said that on talent alone, he's easily in the top ten in our system. A lot of others agreed. I think I speak for most when I say that he was denied a high ranking for reasons other than his ability.

Just a super injection of skill with Mats coming back. He just controls the puck and slows the play down and lets it develop. It was lacking all year. Richards was supposed to be that player.

beyond all that his heart and battle level is fantastic. he's 4'7" but he goes up against the biggest guys and doesnt back down at all in the corners

Zucc will be key. Young guys with skill have hurt the Bruins in the past in the playoffs.

Put this in your pipe and smoke it zucc is by far my favorite player to watch in the playoffs, he has skill speed and kid has balls as big as apples . Glad he has come back

Mind = Blown

:laugh::laugh:

In all honesty, I am a big proponent of the rough stuff in this sport and have been calling for the Rangers to get tougher but not at the expense of skill. The addition of Zuke and Brassard has made a world of difference.

In retrospect, sending Zucca to the KHL might have been the smartest thing Rangers could have done. It is far from certain that he would have managed to develop the way he did with another year bouncing from AHL and NHL.

And what a way to profit. I was hoping that he would be able to produce some good games here and there, and maybe put up an assist or two. For him to be a high impact player in the playoffs is making me all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

Unless I remember wrong he had the 2nd or third highest TOI of the forwards the last 2 games. Seeing as these games were slightly important in the terms of "nothing-can-go-wrong", Torts must really have cast aside all worries about the miniature hockey player

Almost like Sather and Torts hid him all year and brought him back just for this moment

No it was a mistake, this could've been going on for several years now, but torts dismissed zuccarello on multiple occasions..

People seem to forget he was playing like this last year before he broke his wrist. Upon breaking his wrist, he still had the heart to clear the puck before skating to the bench. This kid is amazing.

Yup.

He was playing great on a very deep roster. He made Boyle score a lot down the stretch. That wrist injury was devastating to Zucc and Rangers playoff chances.

Love how Zuc plays like he's 6'4 220lbs. He doesn't back down.

The chemistry between him and Brassard is great. If Nash starts going, having those two on the line with their passing skills will be huge.
