Feels like Darche had been the bridesmaid to an every other GM opportunity over the last few seasons. Good to see him finally get his shot. I’ve wondered why he hadn’t broken through yet to that role.

I wouldn't give him too much credit in building a cup winner, he was hired the offseason before they won, they were pretty much built.

But he's a former NHLer with senior management experience outside of hockey and as a part of a cup winning, well run team. That's an impressive CV.

General feeling is if Islanders come out of the draft with Hagens, it will be Upper Management pushing for it due to marketing possibilities.

Given that Shanahan was apparently involved in everything in Toronto, I wouldn’t touch him with a ten foot pole at this point.
