Player Discussion Mason McTavish

Here's my quote:

It's already implied we won't see a 3 or 4 year deal above. Hell, I wouldn't give Mac a 4-year deal. But Mac does have more leverage, especially if the goal is to make the playoffs and he's your top goal scorer as well as 2nd best scorer on the team.

Then you responded with Mac getting 2-3 years or 5-6 years. Afterwards, I said it probably won't be under 4 years (which I meant 5 years), reiterating it won't be a 4-year contract or less.
The post before that one you asked what if he wants exactly 4, another poster said it’s not gonna happen, and then that reply came where nowhere did you say anything that resembled “you’re right”. And now you’re still arguing why it might be 4 years because Mac has leverage.

And again, there is zero reason to think it might not be 2 or 3. There’s plenty of reason to think it won’t be 4 but, again, in this exact situation Verbeek handed out 3 year deals and 2 in particular might be an attractive number for the player. 4 is the only number that’s unlikely.

Most fanbases seem to like him and value McTavish quite highly in a trade. Give him that 8 year deal ! Has steadily improved every year with no regression except faceoff% and getting kicked out of the FO dot more. He actually had the 2nd lowest shooting percentage of his career this season at 12%.

Hopefully no team offer sheets him a 4 year deal. Need to sign for him 8.

Im pretty much convinced at this point that the front office wont give him any deal that leads into UFA status. They will offer 3 years, he wont like it, and it will drag on into camp unless there is an offer sheet.

Its business. Mac has come a long way but teams like to retain as much control of their assets as possible. Both sides are going to try and protect themselves as much as possible. The team isnt going to want to throw away the RFA status, Mac is going to want to get to UFA as quickly as possible.

I dont think Mac would want an 8 year deal right now either. He has to feel like hes just starting to show what he can do and would hurt himself by signing an 8 year deal right now instead of waiting until he can put up a couple of really good seasons together.

Mac would be dumb to sign an 8 year deal and so would the front office.

My guess is they are going to bicker between a 3 and 4 year deal.

Im guessing 4*5mil per year

Z got a $5.75 x 3 for his ELC.
Earlier this summer, winger Coronato got a $6.5 x 7 deal with Calgary after his ELC ended. Coronato put up 24g and 23a in 77 games.

Good point, Anything within $1mil of 5.5 would make sense. Biggest part for me is the years and Im not convinced the Ducks will or should go over 3 years.
