I always wonder

What teams choices are when they win lotteries

Can you pry a young skater away for really high pedigree option? What can you get with the 2 or 1 OA.. It seems so rare. It would be cool to hear about times these types of things were almost traded.

Chicagos problem from my perspective is that it sure would have been nice if Bedard were a year or two later. He’s so advanced and yeah. Lots of time for him to wait for the others to catch up.

Maybe take the loss you’d experience in moving the pick you are awarded this year and pull the talent forward via trade. Maybe not though…you aren’t really saving that much development time and you’re relying on what somebody else did for their player. I’d def shop it around and that would be so fun.

Chi don’t have the right pieces to make a mctavish trade appealing.

He’s looking good, biggest issue with him right now is consistency…. He’s shown this year that he is kinda a leader amongst the young players…. And is playing pretty good… still hope his points take a step forward but can say that about a lot of duck players

Regarding your second paragraph, this is basically what happened when they drafted Toews and Kane.

So many pieces were already drafted and developed. Keith, Seabrook, Big buff, Patrick Sharp.

Whereas Bedard got to Chicago year 1 of the rebuild. In a perfect world they draft bedard in 2026.

While I do think the Hawks have pieces that could get it done besides Bedard (Levshunov comes to mind), I don't think it makes sense from Chicago's perspective.

And anything less doesn't make sense from Anaheim's perspective.

Verbeek seems pretty high on McTavish judging by interviews I've seen and I feel like he's finally taking a step. Doubt he gets moved.

He'd be an offer sheet target for me this summer if Verbeek plays hard ball on negotiations

pV said he prefers bridge deals off rookie contract….

But ya an offer sheet would need to be kinda rediculous for Anaheim not to match with our cap space.

Not even sure what kinda of offer we wouldn’t match, curious what Montreal would even offer … tho I guess the threat of offer sheet maybe forces trade talk /shrug
