Wow ... the Canes should have cancelled the trade and send him back to the Avs.

This whole thing is such a terrible look for Tulsky. He should have done his due diligence and known that Rantanen had no interest in resigning there from the get go. He gave up far to much for what would have been a rental and on top of that didn't get enough back for what ended up being a extended Rantanen.

Yesh to Rantanen and the 'Canes. As if they didn't do their due diligence with the expectation of signing him. I'm starting to think I can run the operations department there.
I'm not so sure they didn't scrape through this alright. They ended up trading Necas, Drury, a 2nd and a 5th for Stankoven, 2 x 1sts and 2 x 3rds. That seems...not bad?

Hoo boy. That sure doesn’t sound like a coach and GM on the same page. Just in case you wonder if the throw under bus was inadvertent, Brind’Amour slams the thing into reverse and backs over Tulsky with the Guentzel comment.

Like Gm0ney said, the Canes actually came out of this mess relatively unscathed in terms of assets. I don’t know if you can say the same for the relationship between Rod The Bod and Nerdy McAnalytics.

I read the Athletic poll of NHL agents and they had no love for how the Hurricane organization is run, mostly due to meddling ownership, I believe

had a convo with someone about this recently, & i agree. carolina did pretty well considering the original players that were moved. given if necas was not going to extend in carolina. also, getting necas on the 2 year deal to avoid any potential arbitration this summer as well was smart. you can also add taylor hall fwiw to the return.
