Confirmed with Link: Martin Biron is joining Sabres broadcast crew

Sucks for May. I hope the Sabres informed him of this change much earlier in the off-season. If not that's a real unprofessional dick move by the organization, May deserved the time to seek out a new gig for this season.

Why boot May for Marty? Intermission shows are just not that important. May had gotten good enough. Biron should have been hired to lessen Ray's role in color commentary. Actual game broadcast is what matters.

Everything is a negative with this org....let's move to Seattle!!!....lets go.

You clearly like hyper poles and conspiracy thinking...I'll give you that.

May wasn't that good...he lives full time in Cali and commuted to games...now think about
that. Actually, never mind.

Inquiring minds want to know: How often will loquacious Marty Biron work with fellow analyst Rob Ray and play-by-play men Rick Jeanneret and Dan Dunleavy during games in the 2017-2018 NHL season now that he has joined the Buffalo Sabres broadcast team? And what is Dunleavy's status?

Mark Preisler, the executive vice president of media and content for Pegula Sports and Entertainment (PSE) said Biron and Ray may do about five of the 82 regular season games together as analysts inside the benches. But Ray will be alone for the bulk of games alongside Jeanneret or Dunleavy.

Biron primarily is taking Brad May's place as pregame, intermission and post-game analyst alongside Brian Duff. May's contract expired and wasn't renewed.
May was the weakest member of the broadcast team, with the impressive Duff often saving him when he lost his train of thought.

Jeanneret is once again expected to work about half the games. Dunleavy will work the other half of the games.
Dunleavy, who is the final year of his five-year contract, received a vote of confidence from Preisler.
"I don't see Dan going anywhere other than here," said Preisler.

I like Dunleavy. He doesn't try to emulate RJ, but he is pretty clear in his play by play (for the radio folk) and has a good disposition and demeanor.
I'd love to see Marty do the color. I haven't like any of our color guys since Lorentz hung up the mic (Though i did enjoy Harry Neal in his last season and a half, when he had no clue what was going on).

So happy to see Marty have a role here. He could eventually be a great color guy imo, or get his own radio show (ditch Rivet & Peters, or have him replace one of them at least). So many options, just always enjoy his perspective, he seems more in tune with everything from salary cap and contracts to coaching systems than most of the local guys.

Dunleavy does a nice job; he calls the game.

RJ is iconic, nothing more need be said.

Biggest plus is neither of them are anywhere near as annoying as that poser Doc Emrick. Mute buttons were designed for jokers like him.

Why did this get bumped?

Though I suppose it reminds me that they replaced May with Marty. Marty seems like an awesome guy. But holy cow, I really can't listen to him and Duff. Duff is this weird, smirking setup guy that constantly puts the ball on the tee for Marty with repeatedly monologue without taking a breath. Its really bad radio and TV.

No way. Duff and Marty may be one of the best bromances in NHL broadcasting.
