I had a verbal agreement to buy a nice
Gil Kane Superman for $800 USD.
That was the seller's asking price and I couldn't get him to come down even after negotiating extensively with him. So I sent the offer and expected it to be accepted and I would have to pay up and away we would go. Imagine my surprise when he sent back a counter-offer of $900 USD.
That piece will sell eventually but he probably won't get the $800 I offered him for it any time soon.
13.5x8=108... 108÷7=15.4
As of July 1st Marner can only sign a seven year contract regardless of which team gives it to him. That includes the Toronto Maple Leafs. I have to assume there is no way they give him 15.4x7.
There is ZERO chance anyone coughs up that much dough for a soft perimeter winger.
So Marner is costing himself some money. I'm not too sure how he benefits by going through with all this. If he really hated playing here so much he should have accepted a trade.
Rather than torturing himself for a year.
And if he did enjoy it here he would have signed that lucrative contract the Leafs offered him. Holding out for more money in free agency reeks of Klingbergism. In the end their greed was their undoing and they had to settle for less than the generous offer they were already provided.
Just like that moron who tried to squeeze an extra $100 on a piece of comic art he's been trying to sell for months at a price I was willing to give him.
