I have Fimis more in the Ludwinski, Del Bel Belluz, Beck, and Haight range. Definitely not a 1st round talent right now, and may not be anything better than borderline 2nd round right now. DBB and Beck's stock may be rising after being key members of a very successful Mississauga squad right now though.

I think you have a good bulk in that late-1st/early-2nd range with Hughes, Kasper, and McConnell-Barker as less elite, but more well-rounded players. Gustafson, Ostlund, Bystedt, Zhilkin, Poitras, Kulich, and Goyette have a little bit more high end skill, but maybe need to work on rounding out their games.

The problem I have with all of them right now is that none of them really stand out as clear cut late 1st round quality picks. A lot of them seem more like 35-55 guys than people you would take in the mid-late 20's (which is where we will be if we don't make a deep Cup run). It is also very possible that guys at other positions will be BPA over them. So it may make sense for the Leafs to trade down and add a few picks than to "reach" for any of those guys.

The USDP center trio of Cooley/Nazar/McGroarty are all likely out of reach barring some kind of drop off or injury. Out of the three, McGroarty may be able to get to us. Not totally unreasonable.

One guy who is ranked somewhat high but may drop is Nathan Gaucher. His offense hasn't quite taken off enough for him to live up to the Getzlaf comparisons, and so he may drop into the late 1st round as well.

It is also possible that Slafkovsky, Lekkerimaki, and Lambert may drop enough to get to us, despite receiving a ton of hype from the online scouting community. The problem is that all are likely going to end up as wingers in the NHL.

Just want to put it out there that it may not be the worst idea to add in other areas outside of center however. We have a lot of quality LW's, and some of them may be able to move over to RW, but I don't think it would hurt to add another quality LD and RD to the pool and I would not hesitate adding a high end RW prospect to the pool. Of course, this team could also use another goalie prospect, but I am not loving the crop this year.
I have been liking kaspers play this year.

Personally, I also have Ludwinski as borderline R1, and likely will have him R1 in the end. I just really like him. But yeah, the draft is kind of devoid of Cs.

If Jack McBain goes UFA in August over signing with the Wild we should be all over that shit.

He probably chooses a team with less depth and a better chance of playing right away, even though he needs at least one year of AHL seasoning.

Do you think a team would offer him an immediate, permanent 3rd/4th line role though?

Assuming a 1 year AHL assignment and NHL in 2023-24, Kampf's deal will be expired and Spezza will be 40 (potentially retired), so he'd have wide open opportunity at C on the bottom two lines. Not to mention JT's contract would be in the last two years.

There's very few teams that check all the boxes that TOR does - a) hometown club, b) competitive playoff team, c) lack of C depth and major opportunity in a medium-term, 1-2 year ETA.

Abramov gets a chance on the top line. Hopefully it lasts for a few games.
Not sure why Moore keeps playing Gabriel on the 3rd line. He should be no higher then the 4th line.

Absolute disgrace on leaf management that is continuing to happen. People need to be held accountable for pure stupidity
you're right, the marlies coach's decisions absolutely speak volumes about leafs management

Yeah maybe play the kids already.

This is probably his last year with the organization anyways. I think we are going to rely upon Woll or Kallgren as the #3 next year, and then we also have Petruzzelli and Scott who need playing time as well.

I've seen enough of Greg Moore too. Obviously Keefe was an amazing coach and did an excellent job balancing development and winning. Moore technically has a balance too, in the sense that he's bad at both. There has to be an upgrade available

Marlies lose 5-1. A good respectable team on paper that isn't well coached. I'm not even blaming Hutch at this point, he is getting overplayed.

There is. The guy right beside him in Snowden who did great things with the Growlers. Depends on when Dubas wants to make the move and stop letting Moore ruin the great program he built with the Marlies. Hardy obviously is involved in that potential move.

Moore is Hardys guy from the USHL though isn't he?
