Either Imoo did not sign his contract yet, he agreed to be let go, or there was a probationary period in his contract where he could be fired without cause. Otherwise, I'd expect Imoo to sue the team for wrongful termination.

so they're not hiring Imoo after all

Does anyone have a link to his Twitter likes? I seen some Pro-Trump likes but I didn't see anything particularly outlandish so I'm assuming there was much more to it than what I seen.

He's deleted his account.

Just do a search on Dusty Imoo on Twitter, you'll find stuff.

Hope the dude's beliefs are strong because he's pretty much killed his career.

The right call, albeit an epic face plant to hire him in the first place. Curious how it all unfolded behind the scenes. The Twitter likes were pretty odious - racism/transphobia/supporting the insurrection - and would have been blatant non-starters for Shanahan and Dubas had they known.

I'm not saying either are infallible, but neither are dumb enough to think they could have gotten away with the hiring him and have no one find out about it.

Genuinely wonder whether this really was a case of just really piss poor due diligence or someone making the recommendation not giving all the information to their superiors.

Not to mention 3rd Round picks in Niemela, Kokkonen, and SDA, and 4th round picks in Abruzzese, Abramov and Ahktyamov, AND a 7th round pick in Tverberg.

Although it hasn't payed out yet, the drafting has been arguably the best in the league since 2018 based on expected pick value.

Actually less impressed with that group overall!

Though Niemela and Akhtyamov are above all the 5th/6ths for me, the rest of those names I don't love so much.

In light of MLSE's decision on Dusty Imoo, I want to remind everyone this thread is not meant as a place for you to share your own beliefs or opinions on the tweets Imoo was involved with.

We also will be following the site's rule on no politics. I know it is difficult to avoid mentioning politics when Imoo was not hired due to his apparent political and social beliefs but we do not need to discuss the merit of those beliefs.

Frankly, as this is the Marlies/Prospects thread and Imoo will no longer be hired for the Marlies, we just simply don't need it to turn into a Dusty Imoo thread.

Try to keep conversation on topic.

Great look, hire someone alt-right by not vetting then fire him when it becomes a public relations disaster. Either they failed to properly vet their candidate or they didn't expect this type of response. Either way it was a faulty process. And, let's not kid ourselves, I doubt he's the only person in the organization who felt this way. Easiest would have just to have been to properly vet a candidate and not hire them on easily claimable grounds, instead of it being now clearly about political beliefs.

Niemela is pretty close to being in the top-four tier for prospects in my eyes.

Tverberg (and Artur) is more interesting than anything at this point. Need to show more, but great start.

Kokkonen was a #1 on a team in a ~top-5 league and his rel stats coupled with his zone starts leads to me to believe his floor is [significantly] better than all of the guys you listed besides maybe Miettinen. The production is almost exclusively due to thr fact his team was awful + no PP time. Had grest production in NA in a SSS.

SDA & Abruzzese I'm high-ish on but you could convince me any of those guys are ahead, especially SDA.

Abramov I don't get the issues. Ridiculous D+1 with a great start & finish to his D+2. Seems like the covid stoppages stopped him from taking over the Q this year. Even looked good at the WJC, and might have looked better if the coach had a brain/he didn't get suspended.

If they were going to fire him for what essentially boils down to their own negligence in vetting him, they should have given a stronger statement than that. They basically just said they didn't look into him enough, which everyone already knew. It just comes across as weak and like they were forced into removing him due to public backlash

Gonna say it

I don’t see anything that separates Niemela and Sandin other than what continent they play hockey on.

I also think we have a very clear top 7 (though order is debatable):

Amirov Robertson Liljegren Sandin Niemela Knies Hirvonen

Then a huge tier of Kokkonen Abramov Abbruzzeze Holmberg Anderson Miettinen and more that you could legitimately argue is #8, maybe even higher.

Drafting has been one of the many great things management has done.
