My notes from the Marlies game:
- Hildeby was excellent. I'm always impressed when I watch him (couple shaky NHL starts aside). Would be interesting to hear a goalie expert's critique(s).
- Quillan.. lots of effort, but ultimately not seeing a lot of skill there
- Minten looked steady, reliable. Think he'll have a long NHL career with me muttering 'solid play', while firmly staying in my seat.
- Grebenkin's a scrappy bastard. Curious if he has the skill level for a top 6 role. Marlies coaching staff was letting him have it after one shift. Probably has some development to do, but could be a favourite real soon.
- Webber-Mattinen (ed) playing as a pairing, presumably to get Tre's rocks off. Both took dumb penalties due to not being fast enough in transition. Mattinen (ed) seemed to have a bad day with the puck. Webber actually looked the steadier of the two.
- Niemela looks decent/reliable but maybe just not dynamic enough when he's inherently got a size deficit (particularly in the eyes of current management).
- Would be curious to see Kokkonen in the NHL at some point. Good poise, decent physicality, ok with the puck. Can at least imagine him eating 3rd pairing minutes ok.

I think you mean Mattinen for Miettinen.

Hildeby is definitely very good. Even the best goaltenders in the world have bad stretches or games.

Grebs is an interesting guy. His game in the A seems to fluctuate a lot, motor up and down. Sometimes a bulldog, sometimes on the perimeter. Flashes of creativity and lots of skill.
Quillan seems to make a nice skill play or two a game, on either side of chances (passing or shooting). Agree, I don’t see a line driver, but he’s also playing with 3rd and 4th line talent. Will be curious to see if he’s gets some extended time with better offensive players.

Quillan is a nice developmental player. Give him some time in the AHL and maybe some offense grows in his game that can translate to the next level

One thing I'd like to see Cowan get better at, is making quicker decisions.
It seems like he can over handle the puck or sometimes overcomplicate certain plays by waiting a split second longer and this could cause problems the higher up you play. Just a small observation and something that can definitely be worked on.
