Pretty quiet start from the 2024 draft crop but then again they were mostly late round picks.

Of note though:

Big winger Sam McCue has 8 goals, 13 points in 14 games so far. Progressing to a PPG player in a D+1 year would be a nice step for a 7th rounder

Similar to that big defensemen Nathan Mayes, who only had 1 goal and 16 points last season already has 2 goals and 6 points in 16 games .. small progress but it's encouraging

Not bad for a pair of 7th rounders.
McCue reminds me of the Dave Brolls of yesteryear. I don't think he'll crack the NHL as regular, though of course I hope he does, and if he does it'll likely be as a bottom utility guy. His best strategy will be to keep up his puck cycling at each next level, and to pick up his skating.
A little higher than I probably would have picked him, but at least it wasn't a Tyler Biggs or Brad Ross scenario where we used a high pick on him. If we can get him to play more than 1 game in the NHL it's pretty much a success for a late 5th.

EDIT: I had it in my head he was our 5th rounder lol

Yeah 216 was too early, should have waited until at least 221

:sarcasm:

I am waiting to see Minten and how far off being an NHLer he is right now.
He has the mould of the 3C Leafs need. Hoping he can make the jump towards the end of the year.
That would solve a lot of problems.

Marlies with a comeback 4-3 win.
2 goals for Alex Steeves.
Joe Blandisi with a short handed legit snipe.
Minten with the apple, bit rusty but flashed some offensive instincts.
Grebs with a pp primary assist, but otherwise pretty quiet.
The Hildebeast was good enough to win. Sv% around 900 but lots of big rebounds, not his sharpest game.

Steeves has been really good. He's got an underrated shot.
