Besides Marner when was the last time we drafted a London Knight.
Now that Dubas is gone that will change, nothing during his tenor.
Was very surprised that Hunter didn't draft Thomas when we drafted Ljiligren .
I guess it hoes to show how back our prospect depth was on defense an organization decision.

2023 drafted I was hoping to draft Bonk 1st Cowan 3rd rd pk and I was hoping to draft Julien 6th rd pk

I was hoping we would get a 3rd rd pk

Glad we drafted Cowen

He is a great prospect but he still has flaws that he will have to work on to make the nhl

It would be nice if he worked on and overcame most of his flaws.
It isn't necessary though.
Many flawed players in the NHL, including stars who never outgrow the flaws, relying instead on their talent.

So he's bigger than Brad Marchand?

Not sure I see the narrative you’re attempting to push here. Cowan seems to entirely fit Dubas’ draft philosophy, and while Treliving was our GM at the draft once he was allowed to join our table, all the work by our scouts to form our draft list predominantly took place before him. I’m not crediting Dubas for the pick at all, moreso our scouting staff, but I think it’s fair to conclude Cowan was our guy Tre or no Tre.

Tre had been in the job for a month before the draft.. and didn’t Wes Clarke announce the pick? I give him the most credit IMO

The thing you could give Tre a plus for is listening to the scouts, a lot of those scouts were put in place by past administration's so he didn't have to trust them but he seemed to do so

Not all people in power are willing to do that

This is true. Tre shouldn’t be discounted by any means. Personally I think the Cowan pick should be mostly reflective of Clarke’s work. But Tre gets credit for listening and supporting him.

Been following the Cowan hype train, and am super excited.

Can someone give me an overview on Mintens year, and development

Hopefully we keep Clark around for a long time. Guy seems to have a keen eye for talent and has made some good selections with fairly limited picks since taking over.

Just did a quick pivot table (I know old school) (2016-2020)

great 200 foot player, doesnt have as much offensive polish as we may like, can max out as our #2C, but, certainly a #3C
...think a better Kampf at both ends of the ice, or a bigger/better Holmberg.

Zach Hyman at age 21 in NCAA scored 7 goals.

No offense, until he was 22 in the Big-10.
NHL took a while as well.
Hyman pretty smart man.

My guess is no one thought Hyman could ever be a 30-40 goal scorer in the NHL.

He has decent size, 6'1", 2ll lb.

Minten 6'2", 194 lb. (could likely put on weight).

Just saying, not every player is a finished product at age 21, and wrt Minten 19.

Should be a useful player, but we don't know his ceiling.

Dude is gonna be Matt Stajan. Good 3C who could slide up in a pinch.
I'm not sure that's the best stylistic comparison, though it might be an accurate outcome comparison... Stajan was better offensively, not as good defensively. The challenge for Minten might be finding enough offense to be a good 3C.
