Marlies, Cyclones, and Prospect Discussion

Any other free wallets on the radar?
I'm not expecting anything too major from this NCAA market ELC-wise for the Leafs - the main one I wonder about is Quinn Hutson once BU is done just because there seemed to be a lot of mutual interest discussed when he attended last year's Dev Camp. That would be a 2y ELC if it were to happen. I think other names of ELC interest are probably returning to school if they haven't signed yet, other than maybe TJ Hughes, who may want to finish the year in the NHL if he signs.

I think the Haymes/Prokop ELC's and the Kirwan AHL deal could be their headliners of this class (a great outcome), but they'll sign a number of the '99-'02 born seniors/5th years at all positions to AHL deals still to fill out Marlies depth and the Cyclones roster for next year. Some of the '04 CHL overagers who havent committed to the NCAA yet could be AHL deal targets too (I like Sam Alfano, Brayden Edwards, and Hunter Mayo most)

He's 23 so if they believed he had any NHL potential, you'd need to try within 12-24 months of signing him to see what you have.

OT:

Nathan Mayes

Spokane Chiefs

Only 1 American on the team.

Similar to all their American Division.

More like traveling teams than local teams.

Wonder if that might change with the new NCAA rules?

Nathan Mayes, not OT- at arms length seems to have made comparable strides as McCue and gone from 7th round afterthought to legitimate prospect. Big toolsy DFD.
