Marlies won 3-1 last night. Another goal for Steeves, that's 24 goals in 33 games.
Watching Steeves development I was off him coming in to this season. Would get a brief call up and not make a single play.

This year he played with a purpose and made plays all over the ice. I am in on him now and he is a better option in the bottom 6 than some others we are plugging in.
I just think he is going to be trade fodder at this point unfortunately

I can’t believe they didn’t call him up when Knies and Tavares went down. It sends a message that even if a spot opens up and you do everything you can possibly do to earn a call up you still might not get it.

Should give Steeves a legit shot here, could provide some secondary scoring (24 goals in 33 games). Can't be worse than what we have already have. Might do well on a 3rd line with Domi feeding him. For those who watch the Marlies closely, has he been primarily a center, on the wing, or a mix of both?

He has a smidgeon of value so I think maybe he becomes a throw in on a trade

Agreed, still think they should give him one last shot for a stretch of games. Low risk, if he produces a bit all the better, keep him or use him as an add on in trade.

Steeves plays on the wing, he doesn't play center. He reminds me a lot of McMann before he became a main stay on the Leafs. He is doing everything, he is crushing guys this year every game, he plays on the PK and he is absolutely lethal offensively. I could see him helping the 2nd power play unit in the NHL with his shooting ability.

He should be another homegrown McMann/Knies physical top-9 winger with opportunity. I would bring him up now and give up on the Holmberg experiment. There is no way Holmberg gets claimed if they send him down now. Holmberg down, Steeves up. That would improve the team without needing a trade.

Some synergy the last couple games, Wed and Fri

Steeves goals
Hildeby wins 40/44

Marlies have been real strong on this long road trip, going 7-2 with the tenth and final game tonight.

Maybe Steeves will be our next McMann. Age wise it lines up.

He’s doing exactly what he needs to do to get to the next level it seems like
Talent-wise sure. But style-wise it's tougher for him because McMann can play on virtually any line and contribute. Unfortunately, Steeves isn't going to look as good playing in a bottom six role, which is what he'll have to do to earn time with the more skilled players.
