Support. Can probably grab him after this season before expansion draft.
Really good fit potentially.

He averages around 18 minutes a night... thats really not buried

Pish posh, he can play more with the Leafs ;)

Ah well, I am a fan and thought I'd see if he can help us, but seems like there is no rush to move him out on Florida's part.

Well, depends what you are offering.

We have no need for prospects and picks.
No need for bottom 6 forwards.
And obviously a lateral move for another bottom pairing D is useless.

He isnt valuable enough for a top 6 forward on his own.

I dont think a deal can be made?

You guys don't want to re-load at all? Crouse got dealt this off-season and you've had Matheson graduate by the looks of it.

Outside of us offering a prospect to you, we probably can't help.

Guess he stays in Florida then. Poor guy.

Ha, Florida is a good team, so I am sure he's not overly broken up about it.

Outside of figuring out a longer term winger for Barkov (Jagr won't be around forever...or will he?) the Panthers look to be set up for quite a long time.

been re-loading at the draft really.

Some guys who were thought to be make the squad this year didnt because some players made the leap. Malgin for example, has been solid.

The Jagr thing, well, they could go Huberdeau Barkov Marchessault.

Personally, Huberdeau Barkov Bjugstad is what I want

Then have a 3rd line of Sceviour Malgin Marchessault.

Malgin is awesome. Do you think you'd kind of be wasting an asset in putting Bjugstad on the wing? I feel like someone would really over pay to get him off of you if you're going Barkov-Trochek as your 1-2 punch.

Sceviour and Marchessault were really shrewd signings. The Marchessault one in particular was great, he was getting cast as a bottom 6-13th forward in TBL, Scev also was getting lumped into the 13th forward spot.

Money puck is real.

Florida fans have been really cool in this thread. No reason it can't be civil either, just bounce stuff off people from other teams.

It's what we should try to strive for.

Very much agree, these are supposed to be a sounding board for trade ideas and often just get to squabbling, this has been an unfriendly board lately in Leafs threads...especially the TOR/VAN ones since Saturday

I think as long as you make polite inquiries or make a trade proposal where you're actually offering up some value, you have a solid basis for a thread.

Sometimes fan bases are wrong about what they have too. Pretty sure McIlrath was highly valued around here in the latter half of last season and he cleared waivers and was traded for another recently waived player.

Leafs were trying to give away Gardiner towards the end of Carlyle's tenure and now we really don't want to part with him.

Malgin, McCann, Hawryluk, Hunt, Borgstrom, Mascherin.
Forward group should be fine for some time.
Only thing to really figure is longterm Rw for Sasha but Pysyk can't help on that.

I personnally like to see more of Pysyk, think there's a top4 player developing.

The perspective can be really good to get for sure

McIlrath seems like a bit of a miss for us, for a waiver guy and a late pick that seems like the type we should be stockpiling at RD...more to throw against the wall and see what sticks

I also notice that in the last week, Kapanen is starting to be regarded by other fanbases as less of a piece that we're trying to pump tires and push out the door, and more of a legitimate high-ceiling prospect so that could be interesting if we want to chase a high end RD prospect or an established top 4 guy. Not sure where we stand just yet, need another 20-30 games to get a feel

My thoughts on Pysyk is he may take the Stralman route, might get stuck on your 3rd pairing but has some top 4 qualities that you'd want (and other teams too).

Way I saw it was

Yandle, Ekblad, Demers, and Matheson made up the top 4 for the forseeable future.

He has some really good shot suppression numbers and maybe could be an under-rated partner for Rielly. It's not the A caliber defense partner I wanted us to acquire but he could be what we needed.

like 2nd or 3rd younger player in the AHL last year, not surprised he didn't light the league on fire. He's a legit piece we can use to fill some needs via trade or he's a cheap option for the top 6 later on.

McIlrath wouldn't work in our system - I see him struggling kind of like Marincin and Polak have this season, can't move the puck well.

Kapanen's production only looked middling at absolute face value, even if you click on the team link for last year's Marlies team, the alarms should be sounding that there was more to it...he was the 11th highest scoring forward on the team, only 3 guys ahead of him were older than 23 (so they were mostly real prospects), and was still over 0.5ppg as a teenager: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/leagues/seasons/teams/0039912016.html
Obviously was not getting any opportunity on that team with their depth...and they ended up being 12 points better than the next team in the AHL, crazy good compared to the league. Anyway, not surprised he's catching fire with a top 6 spot and top PP spot

I guess McIlrath didn't suit us....still though, would be nice to load up on those types of guys who might be long shots at a high ceiling when it doesn't cost much

Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk..... Where the bottom pairing guy isn't even available, haha are you even serious? Did you really think all the high picks and blue chip prospects could even get our bottom pairing guy? LMAO

Kinda buried, no ? ;)

Unless you think he has zero chance to be on a 2nd pairing or something.

No a lot of teams put the young defenseman in the bottom pair and let them work up. The Kings did the same thing with a couple of our top 4 guys. It's smart to start bottom pair and work up the line up instead of chucking a guy into the top 4 that don't belong as that could wreck the players game.

Well obviously we'd take a Marner or a Nylander for him, but the problem is those players aren't going to be traded for Mark Pysyk. For what the Leafs could possibly be willing to trade for Pysyk wouldn't be worth giving up Pysyk for considering how well he's fitting in.
