Definite bright spot.

Shame Sweeney was too cowardly to make more bottom 6 changes doshing Coyle or Geekie could have really helped or even better Carlo for a top 6 winger.

5 pts in 4 games. +5. 58.6% in the dot. Was 24 years old the last time anyone saw him play hockey before we got him.

Maybe in Ottawa it was hard to know his true ceiling. Mike Fisher with the Sens had a lot of seasons like 13/19/32 or 18/20/38. His 51 and 53 pt seasons were outliers in his 19 year career.

So do I think Kastelic has 30 pt potential WITHOUT any power play time? Yeah bud. I do. And Monty doesn't mess around. If Kasty is playing well, he's seeing more ice.

Hell with 30 points, he's the next Cam Neely!

No idea why you're being passive aggressive with the image. I hope Kasty can become a bonafide 3C, I really liked him a lot. I love his playstyle, I like how he defends teammates and will fight anyone.

Fisher was an elite shutdown guy, one of the fastest skaters we had, played 2C as much as he did 3C. After the lockout, at age 25, he also paced at 53 points, 58 points, 49 points, 32 points, 55 points. It's more likely that Kastelic's high end is in the low 30s, I have an extreme doubt that he gets anywhere close to 50. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Only 25 more points to go until he hits 30! The bottom 6 is terrorizing other teams.

In regards to Kastelic getting a line promotion, he's earned it... but I think he's currently benefiting from not having to go against the other team's best D pairs / centers like he would if he got bumped into a top 6 role. I think they need to let the 4th line keep doing what they're doing... they all have chemistry with each other and putting up some points. It's up to the others to find their game - there's enough talent there where they should.

I feel like you’re wrong. I feel like 4th Lines often line up against top pairs and top forward Lines. Especially when the other team has last change.

I’ll be honest though I could be wrong. I don’t have stats to back this up. I just feel like I see a lot of top units out against the fourth line.

I think fourth line guys are generally defensive specialists and/or violent animals.

If the Bruins had drafted a strong skating, power forward prospect who put up 47 goals in 66 games as a 19 year old captain in the WHL, where would he be ranked?
Depends…was he drafted in the fifth round despite that production? Did he put up 43 points in 82 games across three seasons in the A, followed by 25 points in 114 games in the NHL?

Happy he’s thriving in Boston. This guy wins important face offs, wins puck battles, and not afraid to drop the gloves and stand up for his team mates.
The amount of points early on is a nice surprise. I always thought in Ottawa that he had the tools to become a capable 3C if he’d just stop making bonehead and plays, taking dumb penalties and make silly mistakes.
Always saw him as a textbook 4C hustle/grind guy. But with Stutzle, Norris, Pinto and Grieg at C, he was just never given the ice time and chance.

I'm very interested to see what happens over time, as the points and the minutes trend downward. So far it feels like attitude is everything with this guy. New team, he's got something to prove, he's had some early success...so lets see how he responds to the low points in the season. That will tell me more about his makeup as a player than these first 5 games. Don't get me wrong, he's been excellent, I just don't trust it. I don't expect points from the guy, but if the stupid penalties and mental mistakes creep in then it's a problem

He is no different than any other player, Why are you going to hold him to a higher standard on the mistakes or penalties?

Enjoy the fact this kid is better than most thought. All you need is eyeballs to see his hustle and grit every game.

He wins face-offs he hits ,skates as good as anyone we have and has a great shot. The kid is a great pick up, we lucked out, enjoy it.

We can't help ourselves. He would be the next slam dunk Brady Tkachuk. Drop the gloves well a few times and we'd anoint him the next Bob Probert/Cam Neely clone.

Guy plays a heavy, fast, and very smart game. Fits our system perfectly. I honestly believe he has 35-40pt potential. (Beecher is looking like a heavier playing Paille)
Why move any of the guys off the 4th line. Just give them more ice time as if they're the 3rd line.
Give a Potrais line less minutes until they find the combo that works.
When it comes to the 4th line don't fix what's not broken. Fix the 3rd line. Through 5 games it's been a non factor.
I'd rather go Coyle, Brazeau, Geekie(if sitting motivates them.)
Frederic needs to play up for a stretch of games to see if he's ready to play with better players (Marsh, Potrais?). Otherwise, resigning him is less of an issue, he could be gone at the TDL.

I think you’ll find most of us agree with this.

If Kastelic plays similar to this, in this role for the entire season - that’s a massive win for our Bruins. No need to break up that line and shoehorn Kastelic into a role he’s not exactly fit for when the one he’s playing right now is working so well.

He’s no Ullmark. But he’s far better early on than I thought he’d be. No complaints from this fan.

I’m not holding him to a higher standard. I’m just wondering how his overall game is once the production fades, which it will.
