What good is that come playoff time?

This year's playoffs had 4 fights. 3 in the 1st round. Pasta and Tkachuk in the 2nd. Zero fights in the conference finals or finals.

Even his physicality is overrated. His assertiveness is questionable at times and I've seen comments from Ottawa fans that he doesn't always finish his hits. This isn't some lunatic running around smashing everyone.

Unless he's about to become the new defensive center/face-off specialist than I don't see what purpose he serves. We know he can win face-offs, but does he have the defensive IQ for a significant role going up against the other teams best players in the defensive zone, or to be out there killing penalties?
Funny how Florida taking liberties with the Oilers top players immediately ceased once they got a dose of their own medicine.

Same happened in Boston with the Panthers, lots of stuff going on except when Maroon was out there then they were choir boys.

What good is Ullmark?

Sens fan here,

He's very good at faceoffs and reliable in that aspect. He's also an absolute force when he decides to play physically, the frustrating problem for us is that he was inconsistent in that regard. I think a change to Bruins culture might help with that. If he keeps his game simple and focuses on playing physical, he'll be a fan favorite. He does hurt guys often when he decides to hit.
Maybe he just doesn’t like hurting guys. I feel like a lot of the nhl players in todays game pull back a bit so they don’t hurt anyone.

Kastelic is big and strong and fast in a straight line speed. He's good on faceoffs. He'll drop the gloves if he has to.

He isn't crazy fast, but has good straight line speed, especially for a big guy, which means he can forcheck hard. The problem though, is he often does fly bys instead of putting 220pounds at speed into the opponents defenders. On multiple occasions, Jacques Martin and Daniel Alfredsson were livid on the bench because he would not finish his check. He's on the 4th line, he needs to know that if he doesn't finish his checks, he's out of the league.

He's a good locker room guy. Captained the Calgary hitmen. Will win faceoffs. Solid defensively, but not great.

If you guys can get him to play hard, he's a great 4th liner. Odds are, he might leave you wanting more nastiness from him as he's a big strong guy who can move. You'll keep thinking of what he could be if he had a mean streak.

Kastelic plays mean, he will be a fan favorite. He will defend guys for sure. His toughness will be somewhat contagious IMO. He is a very limited hockey player sadly, so could see him having trouble cracking the lineup at times.
Scored 47 goals on the dub with Calgary one year. I would think he has sone talent. Only 25.

Thanks for this, I know nothing of him.

Say what you want but if this means I never have to see Patrick Brown in a Bruins uniform that’s a big win for me. This guy will be a fan favourite. For me he will be a guy that the spoked B was made for. Cheaper and younger than the available UFAs available.

I think he's the kind of guy that will win fans over with time. Its funny to see some Bruins fans scream that this team needs size, toughness & a guy who'll stand-up for teammates. That sounds like Kastelic.....and there's people who are pissed about him LOL
That's because some people want us to be the Montreal Canadiens and have no one tough on the team and "take the penalty". Only part of this deal I like is getting Kastellic. He'll be a good fourth line center, win his share of face offs, hit, stand up for his teammates and fight. Those things still matter no matter what some people say. Excited to have him on the team.

Disingenuous

People are ticked about HOW he was acquired, not that he was acquired.

Marco Sturm was great for Boston in his short time, a Fan favorite.
But ask any Bruins fan about him and it will always go back to how Boston got him and for whom.
