Hilarious that there's a lot of posts bashing him today when he had a great game tonight...He supposed to score a hat trick, and get a bunch of hits every night or something?

Guys, he scored a goal tonight! He's good I tell you! Completely worth the 7.5 million we're paying him.

Wait? What? That's only the 7th or 8th game he has a point in this season? Oh. Maybe he should be traded after all. He's certainly not elite or worth the contract.

**** the nostalgia some of you hold for this guy. He needs to go. Between his cap hit and what we can get back for him (D-E-P-T-H DEPTH), he should be out of here.

right.. trade him for depth!! MORE GRIND!! MORE JAM!

An "elite" player making 7.5 mil isn't supposed to have a great game when he feels like it. He's had maybe 10 good games all year. Sorry, but I want consistency from an "elite" player with that type of cap hit.

I know. I was being sarcastic meant to put the sarcasm smiley. The point is the Rangers dont want offensively talented players. at least Torts dont

No. Torts wants talented players that bring it. Benn, Perry, Hossa, etc. would all receive a warm welcome from Torts.

Gabby? Not so much, and I don't blame him.

They can ""bring it" all the want, the fact is only two players have scored 40 goals or more over the last decade + for the Rangers, and one is Gaborik, the other is Jagr. Those guys could "bring it" every night and they still wouldn't score as many goals as Gaborik has for this franchise.

A depth trade  Man oh man.

Im sure theyll just ****ing slide right in unscathed like every other player has under Tortorella.

That RH 4D and top 9 player still has to learn this wonderful system hes employing.

Its not going to do anything, especially right now.

Which is why you wait til summer and let this current roster play it out.

No. Its just not good sarcasm. To be quite honest its ****ing lame.

I cant believe in people wanting to trade a 40 goal guy for DEPTH... D-E-P-T-H.

Essentially, the Nash trade was a ****ing LATERAL move.

Nash + Gaborik return = Gaborik + Anisimov + Dubinsky + 1st + Erixon

Yea. Depth. You ever heard of it? If not, look at the past few teams that have won the cup. LA, Boston, Chicago, Detroit. They had it. Also take a look at the leading goal scorers of each of those teams and tell me how many 40 goal guys they had genius.

This team doesn't have depth. If it means trading my overly-inconsistent sniper living off his reputation to get some, I do it.

# of goals= how good of a Ranger/player you have been?

You'd keep Gaborik over Callahan then? You wouldn't trade Gaborik for Benn? Perry? Lucic?

40 goals not does make a player the second coming. Jesus. Stop getting stuck on that number.

And again: Look at the stats of the Cup-winning teams the past few years. Then get back to me with how many 40 goal-scorers they had.

Nash has done pretty well. So have most of the young players.

For every Nash.. there is a Scott Gomez, Chris Drury, Brad Richards, Wade Redden, should I keep going?

Gaborik has been the ONLY consistent goal scorer we've had since he signed here.

There is no guarantee Benn, Perry, or Lucic would succeed here.

only on hf do you trade your teams 40 goal scorer for depth just for the hell of it. so happy none of you guys are gms

Say what?!

Lucic - hands down - would succeed. Doesn't hesitate to lay into hits, plays a chippy game, can fight, and also has some offensive skill.

He's Prust 2.0

Didn't answer the question.

You'd honestly turn down a swap of Gaborik for any of these guys?

And did you happen to look up at how many 40-GOAL SCORERS the past few Cup-winning teams have had?

I mean, I'm sure they had a bunch. Only 40-GOAL SCORERS are good players in this league.

:sarcasm:

Yet a guy who shows up once in a blue moon does? We have weak depth. And if you really wanna get into it, Nash is more powerful and uses the body and won't shy from the play. Not lateral.

Pyatt, Powe, Miller, etc bring effort every game.. Do you want them as depth for Gaborik?

Yeah, depth, what we had last year and traded for Rick Nash, and are trying to make up for by getting rid of Gaborik.

Thats a lateral move if ive ever seen one.

They had much deeper offenses than Nash, and then 4 goal Richards, Hagelin, Stepan and Callahan. Those teams rolled 4 lines. This team will continue being a one line inconsistent team with a useless bottom six and a ?????? second due to trade.

Thats the ****ing point and no depth trade is putting this team "over the top" this year.

The best Gaborik fetches is a 1st, a top six forward with grit and a top four RHD.

These guys need to learn and slide right into this team going forward to make an impact. On top of that most of all, our bottom six.

For a team that cant score for dog ****? Yes, you NEED a 40g scorer if you can have one.

Once again...

How many 40-GOAL SCORERS have the past few Cup-winning and even Cup-competing teams had?

I'd take two solid 2nd liners in a trade for Gaborik in a ****ing heartbeat.

and somehow you all seem to forget that if only one guy doesnt score, he's the guilty one.
3rd and 4th lines ar worthless. 2nd line grinds very good but just cant finish.
If there is no secondary scoring you cant blame it on the first line only.
And torts doesnt even give 4th line guys a chance.
Halpern without a goal this season. Just sad.
Now Pyatt there too.
Gaborik is not the one to blame. All team has not been good enough.
Really Really hoping for them to turn it all around. Skill is there.

Are you asking this "for" as if we got them? Or I'll put it this way: effective depth.

Until Gaborik starts putting forth consistency, and stops floating and acting like he can just come to play when he feels like it, I will proceed in my line of thought. There is NO reason why he should be playing like this. Judging from your other posts it seems like you support Gaborik a LOT, which isn't bad. But start looking at other options. Inconsistency does not fly here and Gaborik is no exception because he scores more goals.

You are absolutely correct 100%.

The bottom 6 is by far the worst in the NHL. Every player on it sucks.

no man, he needs to grind... jam.. forecheck.. grind.. block shots.. MORE JAM!
