Trades can do weird things for players, but by all accounts, Dion Phaneuf has been a pylon this season. In a league that's getting faster, picking up a guy who has cement blocks as skates isn't ideal, imo.

My lasting image of Gaborik will be that awesome breakaway he had in the 2nd period.

Kidding, kind of. He was awesome in 2014 and the season after but absolutely horrid the final 3 years.

Not sure why Ottawa would do this. Would've thought they would ask for a pick at least.

This is a garbage trade unless the plan is to trade Martinez.

Phaneuf isn't exactly a defensive stalwart, we get EVEN MORE loaded up on Left D, we take on cap, and we lost Shore who I thought was a very, very solid young 4th/3rd liner.

Phaneuf is an overall positive imo. If not for his contract I'd like him here too. Course you won't have to worry about that.
