I'm sticking with my thought/hope that Guerin isn't against signing him, only against signing long-term at the moment. Therefore, no real rush to get a bridge deal done mid-season.

Russo is a clickbait artist, rossi isn't going anywhere.

Why even draft him if you trade him when he starts to turn into the player you hoped for? Did they think he was going to grow 6 inches after the draft?

Yep, bridge deals in high impact RFAs happen in the days before(and sometimes after) training camp starts.

It would be silly to not match that, if you really want him gone you can trade him for more than that
There's a shortage of centers in the league, cap going up. I'd push it to around 9. 1st, 2nd, 3rd territory. Making the playoffs would make the price fine. Might have to trim a depth player to make it fit. Not a lot of other options for trade.

What's Bennett getting! 8-8.5? Numbers for centers going up.

Might as well speed things along.
Imagine Min is looking for a one for one. King's don't have anything really interesting they'd be willing to trade one for one. They do have picks & cap that can be easily freed up & 37 year old Kopi hanging things up in the near future.

Rossi is a need in MN right now, and they don't have a proven replacement waiting in the wings if they trade him. Short of trading him for a better Center with a similar contract and age situation, I don't get moving him.

I am saying someone should offersheet him, we highly likely match. Problem solved. Although I doubt there is much of a problem.

$9M AAV for Rossi is insanity.

Guerin should learn from his idiotic handling of Fiala and sign Rossi long term right now for the best number he can get. The price is indeed going up and we will be underwhelmed by the return I’m sure

Isn’t kaprizov small too?
Yes, but extremely thick, and tough. Rossi is a tad smaller, but he has also been working very hard (i.e harder than most players) in offseasons to build up his strength. He has gone from a guy who was getting abused physically in the AHL to a guy who has figured out how to win puck battles and play in front of the net in the NHL in the space of about 3 years.

I was a doubter early on, watching him in the AHL, but am now a convert. This guy is a #2c at a minimum already. Has character out the wazoo which will not be denied. Remember, this guy had Myocarditis after he was drafted which derailed his career for about 1 1/2 years. He had to stop all activities for close to a year, then work his way back just to get back where he was, while his peers were playing and training. He's smart, and mentally tough.

I see him as a complimentary 1st liner. Ceiling as a Nick Backstrom type.

Russo just reported there has been no contract extension talks between Rossi's agent and the Wild. Let the speculation continue.

I believe they're gonna trade him soon just because he is small. Hopefully the deal is gonna be good for the wild.
Where was this reported?

I think the Fiala deal worked out pretty well

Lamoriello would be all over this if he was truly available.
