Player Discussion Marco Rossi

Don't get me wrong, this thread is becoming ridiculous and we're discussing in circles. DigitalBoldy should rename himself into BG handyman or Rossi hater No1.

To be honest, this thread shows me why Rossi should leave Minnesota as soon as possible. Every professional athlete needs trust and kinda commitment from his coaches & franchise and thats something he won't get here especially after all those rumors/discussions and especially after the actions/interviews from BG & Hynes. Mostly just because of his size.

I really hope he succeeds elswhere, so that BG looks like a fool. And some posters here as well.

And, by the by, if the thought is to get what we can for Rossi and keep the space open for 2026: it's McDavid and Eichel, and that is absolutely it as far as center solutions in UFA. Next best is Boone Jenner. And I'd bet quite a bit that both don't make it much into July this year before pen to paper.
Boone Jenner has also been playing the wing for like 3 years now too

Billy G already looks like a fool to me. I'm sure Rossi's gonna come out of this on top.
No one knows what's really going on, just some rumors from a bunch of click-hunting sellouts.

I think it's smart to keep the player, game-changing trade aside. After that, I am asking myself if 7 x $7M is out of line with what I would be asking him to do (it's not).

If you're cool with 6 x $6M and I'm cool with 7 x $7M, I do find it kind of amusing that all this consternation is over $1M per year. I get that everybody "overpaid" by $1M eventually adds up, but still kind of funny.

The "physically limited player" and "near the top of his physical limits" are just longer ways to say 'short'. I've stopped pretending it isn't about height a while ago, and have said multiple times that if he was 5'11" he'd probably have his contract by now. I still believe that.

I don't think an aspect of his game needs to "dramatically improve" or "reach a much higher level" to be comfortable with 7 x $7M. Do I want to see continued improvement that comes with age and experience? You bet I do.

Just for conversation's sake, what do you think is the defining/top end part of Jake Guentzel's game?
I’m cool with 6x6 because it’s between the two sides being stubborn asshats (Guerin at 5x5, Rossi 7x7). It’s close enough to what I think will be 3rd liner money ($5-6M) in a couple of years. If you’re asking what I would do if I were GM, it’d be around 3x$5M cause I don’t trust that Rossi is going to keep going upwards in trajectory (see: Cozens).

Don’t care if you want to call it short or whatever. His skating is average at best (below average IMO). His shot is average. His motor is below average. His strength is below average. Personally, I don’t think all of those things tie directly to his height. But, if you think all of those things are tied to his height… you do you :dunno:

I don’t watch Guentzel enough to know about his game outside of he is a sniper.

I think this post is ridiculous. Nobody here is hating Rossi.
They’re just questioning if you can win a Cup with him being your 2C, or higher. The same thing had happened with almost every player we’ve had, excluding Kap.

You don’t seem to take offense when people question whether or not Brodin or Spurgeon should be moved. They’re better players than Rossi. Take off the rose colored glasses and at least look at this someone objectively, rather than just being a Rossi fanboy.

Or you could just change your username to Webster2.0

To me Rossi looked pretty good, had knack for scoring some big goals at important times and seems like he has more upside. Sure he is a little smaller than Lindros but for a team who has so consistently lacked centers and offense I just don't get the drama.

Even if yurov comes in and is a stud I would be super happy to run all 3 of them.
