Trade Rossi for this dude already.
I agree with your logic from Buffalo's perspective.Honestly have no idea why Buffalo does it, and I like Rossi a lot.
They need to add, not swap.
Because if they sign Nelson on the hope that he's still a 50+ point center for the next 3 years, then technically Peterka would be a pure "add" with Nelson and Rossi being the swap.I agree with your logic from Buffalo's perspective.
But I also don't know why we're doing it. We need to add, not swap. What it comes down to is Guerin wants to move on from Rossi for some reason even though he doesn't have to. Does Buffalo want to move on from Peterka for some reason even though they don't have to? If so, that may be a match.
Does this logic not also hold for them? Genuine question, as I'm not intimate with their situation, but from the outside looking in it appears they have a bunch of cap space this off-season too.Because if they sign Nelson on the hope that he's still a 50+ point center for the next 3 years, then technically Peterka would be a pure "add" with Nelson and Rossi being the swap.
Possibly. Rossi, Byram and Quinn would eat into the $24.1M that I'm showing they have. Also, they're starting lower than us so it magnifies a bit.Does this logic not also hold for them? Plus, how easy is it to get UFA's to Buffalo nowadays?
I think Buffalo would much rather trade the #9OA+ for Rossi than swap him with Peterka.
Believe I’ve heard some grumbling that Peterka is unhappy in Buffalo. Don’t really blame him.I agree with your logic from Buffalo's perspective.

This is a blatantly false way to look at it. Peterka is the value add. Nelson is a stop gap.Anytime you can swap out a 60-point, cost-controlled 23 year old for a 56-point, expensive 34 year old who doesn't play defense and can't skate that well, you simply have to do it -- especially if one is from Minnesota!
Not only that but pretending Rossi is great defensively and is a great skater. This is a blatantly false way to look at it. Peterka is the value add. Nelson is a stop gap.
Some (myself) would say below average for both. Not only that but pretending Rossi is great defensively and is a great skater.
He’s (Rossi) average at best defensively and an average skater.
My comments in the the other thread were about people taking conversations about other players and reverting the conversation to be about Rossi. I don’t care if there is Rossi discussion. I’m over making every conversation about him. This board beats a narrative until black and blue and then beats it some more. Can't believe you guys keep bringing up Rossi in the Rossi thread! Like, every other post is about him!
