They’ve already got kind of a dirty version of Schmaltz in Hartman (RH, ~30 yo, smallish build, center/wing hybrid, mediocre FO%).

I could see them being somewhat interested in him, but I don’t think he’d be the centerpiece of a Rossi trade. He’s a UFA after next year & his offensive numbers have been a bit inflated from the PP in the past 2 seasons.

Realistically they’re probably targeting a bigger forward in a trade for Rossi. Guerin has an obsession with bigger forwards & it’d fit into what I interpret his ideal team to look like.

In the unlikely scenario that Guerin does move Spurgeon for futures in a separate trade though, I think it’d make a lot of sense for the Wild to target someone like Durzi as the replacement.

Yes, but he won't be moved because Utah's biggest need is a 2C. So, it doesn't make sense to bring in one center but move out another.

I'd think Utah's trade chips are all draft picks, any of the prospects outside of Iginla, Beaudoin, Lamoureux, But, and Simashev. Roster players I could see being moved are Maccelli, Schmaltz, and to a lesser degree Crouse.

He was his coach in Ottawa for two years, the man always had Rossi‘s back. I remember a great interview Russo had with him about Rossi during the first year Rossi tried to make the Wild roster (and failed). For Rossi it would probably be great to reunite with his junior coach. Certainly no trust issues there. If the business side works out this could be a match made in heaven.

It's not verbatim but I remember Tourigny saying Rossi is essentially "the most perfect" hockey player. He does everything well and doesn't make mistakes.

I'd say Rossi would be ~$1M more. Fits pretty much exactly in my Rossi contract range.

Rossi is a year older than Coronato so it may be more fair to compare their production both at age 22. I think it’s a really good comp if we were to go 7 years, though I’d have Rossi coming in closer to 7.

I don’t really have any interest in the prospects outside of Iginla, But and Simashev. It’s understandable that you wouldn’t want to move them but there’s nothing there for me then. If he does get to the offer sheet period, that’s your best shot. But, as others have said, I think Guerin moves on from him before then to get cap certainty.

I’m confused, would Rossi not be the 2C? You’re trading for him as the 3C for your team?

This reads in the same regard as, hey what’s the cost of Logan Cooley? Rossi won’t be moved because it doesn’t make sense to trade one center out for another. All of our draft picks are available and any prospects outside of Buium, Yurov, Ohgren, Wallstedt, and Jiricek. Roster players I could see being moved are Brodin, Gaudreau, and to a lesser degree Hartman.

Closest comp for me is Bo Horvat’s second deal. That would be $7M x 6 years in todays money, so your 7 year comp is probably right on. I would have no problem paying that, but I also think using that money in free agency and getting a future asset for him is enticing.

It's not hard to predict what he's gonna say:

"We're happy with Rossis development although he's had a rough stretch at the end of the season, that's why he's played on the 4th line in Playoffs".

"We want ro resign Rossi and we've offered a fair deal a few months ago but Rossis management has not agreed to that offer. We are still trying to have a deal done but if we can't find an agreement with Rossis agent, we're gonna look for other possibilities."

I think you're right. The art of speaking words but say nothing at all. That's what all those media pro's are doing.

It'll be interesting to hear some injury news for sure but I doubt that they're gonna say much about that neither.
