At the Moment i think 8.5x8 like Faber is possible. On the other side with his value today Guerin will trade him away. Which teams would be considered?
If Gustavsson continues to perform like this, I'm afraid the 8.3 million won't be enough for him aloneKaprizov at $15M, Rossi at $8.5M and Khusnutdinov at $1M means we're probably looking at a 2026-27 roster like this:
Kaprizov - Rossi - Yurov (2nd year, ELC)
Ohgren (2nd year, ELC) - Eriksson Ek - Boldy
Foligno - Heidt (1st year, ELC) - Hartman
Trenin - Khusnuts - Gaudreau
Brodin - Faber
Buium (2nd year, ELC) - Spurgeon
Middleton - Jiricek (?)
Gustavsson (?)
Wallstedt
With a $95.5M cap, that's ~$8.3M for Gustavsson and Jiricek.

That would seem to be very helpful, though that should mean that the estimated salaries would go up too.For the sake of discussion, some sources think that cap could be around that next year, with it being over 100M in the year you're working in.
This is why I'm not totally against 2-3 years for Rossi. If Gustavsson continues to perform like this, I'm afraid the 8.3 million won't be enough for him alone

I like trying to sign him to the Boldy or Faber deal because by mid-way through the deal that contract will be a steal. That would seem to be very helpful, though that should mean that the estimated salaries would go up too.

That is a benefit, yes. I just don't know how good of an idea it is to have all of these contracts expiring when players are 29 years old. I wouldn't mind seeing a few key ones in the 25-32/33 range.I like trying to sign him to the Boldy or Faber deal because by mid-way through the deal that contract will be a steal.

That is true. I math'd wrong. Makes it a bit better.Rossi signing an 8 year deal right now would bring him to 31ish, no?
Maybe Billy is waiting to contact his agent with the hope that Rossi keeps getting better and better leading to a higher price tag. This way the stubborn GM can hide behind the excuse that we simply can't afford him. "His agent was asking for too much," or "We have to use that money to keep Kaprizov."
His little backhanded way of getting what he wants without taking the blame for it. There is zero reason for him not to at least reach out to Rossi's agent right now to open the line of communication.
I think it's just different than the last 2 high profile young players on this team: Faber done a full season in advance, Boldy done mid-season. Not to mention Zuccarello, Foligno and Hartman all done a full season in advance. Add to that some possible residual uneasiness about Russo putting Rossi in rumors for a year and that's probably where much of it comes from.Having a hard time following criticizing the front office regarding Rossi to this point. For their part, they recognized where Rossi needed to focus and gave him the resources to realize his potential properly motivating him along the way. For their efforts they look like they are seeing the player they thought they drafted and it’s benefiting their team.
I don’t think this offseason made a ton of sense for either side to strike a deal without knowing what this season would look like. There’s a lot of RFAs to be playing in the league right now and very few that have signed a deal after the year started so again, not following the consternation. If he keeps playing and progressing the way he has he’ll get his deal by the offseason and he’ll still be on this roster. He’s not going away. The only reason he won’t be is because a player came available that is a clear upgrade that doesn’t come available and Rossi is what it takes. And in that case, that’s sport.
I guess I’m just going to enjoy where his game has come and benefit he is providing without inserting feelings that just do not matter…
Understand. In Boldy and Faber cases, you have a full season seeing what was to come though. Rossi had a good year last year but not at that level and is showing a new gear this year.I think it's just different than the last 2 high profile young players on this team: Faber done a full season in advance, Boldy done mid-season. So a NHL All-Rookie-team nomination (20g, 40p) while being constantly misused by his former, stubborn headcoach is no reason to call somebodys agent for contract talks, one year before he becomes RFA.Understand. There’s no rush until you understand where he’s at and where he’s headed when he still has another year of control and an RFA. This is the more common approach. This isn’t anything out of the norm.So a NHL All-Rookie-team nomination (20g, 40p) while being constantly misused by his former, stubborn headcoach is no reason to call somebodys agent for contract talks, one year before he becomes RFA.
Do I miss sarcasm here or is this serious?
Luceni is super pro Rossi on everything. Nothing is Rossi's fault. Rossi never needed to improve anything. Any bad moments were the result of a coach misusing him or a GM hating him or not getting PP1 time or etc etc etc. There’s no rush until you understand where he’s at and where he’s headed when he still has another year of control and an RFA. I was one of the first User who wanted him down in Iowa when he got the first taste in the NHL 2 years ago.Luceni is super pro Rossi on everything. Nothing is Rossi's fault. Faber is more with Boldy than the other guys.Boldy is the the only player Guerin has signed prior to the offseason of needing a contract that was an upcoming RFA. And that still happened after where we are today in the season and he had a full season plus that half season producing at the rate Rossi is today.
That includes Kaprizov, Faber, JEE, and Gus. But tell us again why this is a problem.
You’re right. My mistake.Faber is more with Boldy than the other guys.
I just hope your profession isn’t day trading with the advisement to buy at the current peak of Rossi’s very young career.I was one of the first User who wanted him down in Iowa when he got the first taste in the NHL 2 years ago.
I'm super critical on Rossi, I know that he's got lots areas to improve. But I'm not sure if you have realised that all Rossi did was improving and doing what the coaches wanted the last 2 years.
But what Evason did was just jerking around a young player to send a message to the team. Zucc, MaJo, etc played like crap too but noone of them had to play on the 4th line and fight their way back up. This is my opinion and I was relieved when he was fired.
All you do is looking for excuses why there has been not even a phone call from wilds management to Rossis agent. Now he gets more expensive every day and the offseasonn is gonna be interesting. Thats a situation Guerin could have impeded like he did with other pending UFAS/RFAS in the past.
