Why buy just to get a thanks for participating in the playoffs badge? I wouldn’t trade for him unless they have a contract extension already agreed upon.
This young team with this much adversity making the playoffs would be positive beyond belief. Especially if they get some bodies back come playoff team. Wouldn't be Cup contenders but wouldn't be a laydown and take it opponent either

I could be talked down from Willander for sure, although maybe not.

It’ll be fun to see who they get up in Canuckland.

Really hard to compete in the nhl without two sincere scoring threats inside the top 6. I bet if you made a robust list of the available options, it’s hard to argue against a guy in Kyrou who is cost controlled - signed prior to inflation cap, superlative at a small subset of nhl skills (consistently around or among leaders in puck carry/zone entries combined with 50/50 split in goals assists throughout career lightly implying a speed and playmaking skillset - Taylor Hall-esque), clean injury history, not having a bad season, is not hyper streaky or a drama queen. He’s not a bonafide all star, but he is an all star and our teams scoring leader. It’s fair to say he wouldn’t get the all star invite if team distribution wasn’t a thing. That’s okay, he isn’t paid like the top shelf. He’s a nice Audi. Like an rs7. He did win fastest skater. He can make his own offense.

If the person Vancouver finds is signing after today then they’re going to find out players are expensive now.

We shall see. You get what you pay for.

Framework of the deal is based on Sakic moving Duchene and capturing the third leg of the value for Colorado due to taking mostly futures and prospects as their end of the deal while the two other teams got nhlers.

We don’t see teams often trade established young guys for just futures. Columbus having a ginormous amount of cap space and specific need for a high profile forward helps this specific concept. Vancouver moving miller and likely Boesser also creates a specific need.

Back in 2017, Ottawa/Nashville upgraded their nhlers and they both paid Colorado to do so, technically, although it’s just the huge value difference when a 26 year old center goes for just futures. At this time, the Turris in the deal is Boesser and he’s expiring.

I want to trade Kyrou so my team will get a good draft pick. I want stl to go deep down real fast. I wouldn’t be trying to squeeze you in the specific trade, but I’d need one real real good piece for sure, Willander fits my prospect pool perfectly (lol who wouldn’t say that).

I doubt Vancouver would give you what your asking for Kyrou, you want Boeser, a top D prospect and a pick on top? You can tell yourself you might or might not be talked out of it all you want. Vancouver fans on here will tell you they won’t give you Wallinder. “3 1/2 1st value of Kyrou”. Good luck with that one.

Probably right.

Just feels like every pending ufa option is either astronomically, prohibitively expensive (Rantanen and Marner), or worse than Boesser. So if Boesser is heading out one way or another - to Columbus or Minnesota or wherever, that’s a big hole that the market isn’t going to fill for them. I don’t really see the guy who would be up for grabs. Ya think Detroit would give up Debrincat for cheap? 2 years of him? Konecny/Tippet? The flyers wouldn’t move Laughton for less than a ransom. Tuch? Rust? Kinda running outta time with those 2. Tage Thompson? They’re gonna all ask for the same stuff I’m asking for and my guy is mostly better, mostly cheaper, mostly younger, and or controlled way longer. Gotta be able to pay the bill to sit at the big boy table tho. Oh well. Not my problem.

Boeser doesn’t really fit their window and if they resign, they’ll be paying a pretty penny for a guy who doesn’t really drive play and isn’t super consistant.

Boeser is good but let’s not forget he only went over 30 goals once when he hit 40. He gets hurt a lot and he’s nearing 30. I wouldn’t want to pay 8-9m longterm and i wouldn’t want to give up any young players for him or picks. Not really sure how else they’d get a deal done

I mean he was going from Dallas to either Buffalo or Home and it was the only game tonight...not really earth shattering

I mean… we don’t play ottawa or nashville for another 6+ weeks… surely he’d rather be home than just going to a preds/sens game for the ‘fun of it’…

he was definitely there with the intention of scouting someone/something rather than just going for the heck of it because it was the “only game tonight”

I don't think Columbus should be buying. Far too many teams going for those final 2 spots. Sure if the 1-2 seeds are Washington and Toronto they both look like they could be ripe for an upset, but does anyone seriously think Columbus (or any of these other teams) is beating NJ/CAR/TB/FLA?
Yeah, we'd be so doomed, you might even go so far as to say the Lightning would beat us in 3.

I don't think there's anyone they could acquire who would match Marchenko's impact and I think there's just going to be too much against Columbus to overcome when it's all said and done. Pull what Nashville did last year and trade guys like Provorov while bringing in buy low options and hope one of them catches lightning in a bottle

It's probably already been said (I haven't made it through the full thread and not sure I will)... I don't see the CBJ veering off course. They knew coming into the season that they wanted competitive games in January, February, March... as long as they could go without falling off. They've done that and will continue to do that. They will stay the course and not drop assets at the deadline. They won't over pay for a piece to plug in. The only move I would see them trying to make is something that fits longer term and that typically isn't available this time of year.

They do have some replacements on the horizon with Jenner expected back after the 4 Nations with the hope (finger's crossed) that Chinakhov also returns after the break. They have 4 key players on IR currently and all should be back in the coming weeks. They have three games left before the break. I think they'll see what the inured group prognosis is during the break and any other short term moves will be very minor on expiring contracts that are for lesser picks or prospects. No 1sts get moved, no high end young players (prospects or roster) until potentially the off season.
