Value of: Marchand to a Cup contender

Marchand @ 50% retain will cost a lot for a team but I really can see a team like Dallas Colorado and Vegas try to have it. But The cost will be huge.
 
He's the face of the franchise and puts butts in seats. The Bruins won't trade him unless they really get an offer they can't refuse.
 
love brad but you move him no doubt if he agrees and wants to compete for a cup. its a business and you got to do whats best for the team keeping ufas who can potentially speed up your retool is foolish. again if marchand wants to move you move him. people are delusional about what he will return the guy is an all star hall of famer elite goal scorer captain penaltly killer power play you name it he does it. teams will be lining up to make offers if he wants to move on.
 
Marchand 50% retained for WSH 25 1st, Hendrix Lapierre, Ethan Bear, Sonny Milano
 
Rico got a 1st last year. I think that is about in line with Marchys value.

Both have a lot of experience, Marchy more so. But Rico can play C which is just more valuable than strictly a winger. Marchy is pacing for 61pts, Rico was 57. Rico was a plus player on the Ducks surprisingly, Brad is not. Couple years age difference in Ricos favour too.

I feel like the risk of Brad deciding to re-sign with the Bruins this summer is greater than it was for Rico to go to another team.

Trade him and re-sign in offseason. Issue is if he is willing to play along to retire a Bruin and assist the team.

Would be a 1st + a good but not elite prospect. Maybe a mid round pick.

He’s still a very good player and brings a ton of qualities good teams value.

Don’t think they move him unless he specifically asks for it

Todd Marchant retired 14 years ago and is 51. Might slow Draisaitl's line down just a little but sure could fly in his day ;)

He looks slow as shit out there, are you kidding me right now ? He clearly can't skate how he used to, injuries and father time are catching up to him.

Considering he had 6 consecutive over PPG seasons in a row including a 100 point season and is currently on pace for 61 points while looking significantly slower, I don't understand how you can even think about arguing that he is not declining. His points and PPG have been steadily declining for 3 years in a row, it's not even an argument, you're just being biased if you're trying to say he isn't declining. That doesn't mean he's still not a decent player.

He's probably a HOFer when it's all said and done, one of the best 2 way wingers of his generation and a cup and multiple finals appearances. But get real man lol he's clearly declining + given his age, he isn't getting you anywhere near that kind of return

I never said what kind of return he was worth my response was to you saying hes clearly declining heavily, which he clearly is not, sure he's declining a bit, but he's still elite. Yes he may of lost a step or two, but he still thinks two steps ahead of most players has great hands and plays with players who should be 3rd and 4th liners.

Three years in a row his numbers have been declining, I don't understand how you're trying to argue that he's not declining. You make no sense.


His skating is a lot slower than years past

I'm really genuinely confused how you're trying to say he isn't declining, please explain. His numbers have literally been declining for 3 consecutive years, after 6 years of going over PPG straight.

Is he a bad player ? No, but you can't be serious trying to say he isn't clearly declining.

First of all I wasn't arguing with you, just different opinions and you can have yours and believe it, thats fine. But just let me clarify again. My difference of opinion with you is that you said Marchand was declining heavily. I disagreed, has he declined ?Yes, but far from heavily he still has elite skills his surrounding cast is abysmal and that has more to do with his personal stats. Like i said he may have lost a step or two, but his way above average hockey IQ and his sick hands and overall elite talent makes him still among the leagues best.

His skating has improved from the beginning of the season when he was coming off surgery. Just to like last years levels, not to 24 year old Marchand levels, of course. I think where you guys are disagreeing is on the usage of “heavily” seemed to imply he was close to washed, which obviously isn’t true.
 
He should stay a Bruin but if he were to be traded, I feel the only club that would fit is the Panthers. Be cool to see the rats being tossed for Marchand.
