Besides you having the 2nd on the wrong side, how does that at all help the Rangers?

Staal playing like a solid #3 to start the season. No interest in trading him. Do not have a young LHD ready to replace those minutes

Girardi on the other hand.....

can't right now. Staal is looking like vintage staal. he is battle tested. He looks faster, more engaged, and his stick work has been excellent. He is even jumping in on the offensive rushes. I'm sure it wouldn't break the bank to acquire him but rangers D would suffer at this time.. RD dan girardi could be had on the cheap to come home and play.

Interest level in the player is medium, but interest in the contract is very low (as a Leafs fan).

As another posted stated, acquiring Staal is somewhat more desireable if we can first trade Gardiner (plus) for Trouba. Otherwise, we don't have room for Staal at LHD when we already have Rielly Gardiner Marincin and Hunwick/Loov (now/soon).

Staal has been great so far this season. Solid #3. No interest in trading him. His contract isnt a problem, its Girardi that is the problem... You can get Girardi for free

5.7 with 5 years left for a guy who is at best a 2nd pairing #3-4 dman when playing well?

yeah no. leafs arent messing up their cap situation when Matthews, Nylander,JVR, and Marner all need new deals

Agreed on the first statement.

Second statement....have you heard of Brady Skjei? That's on top of Nick Holden who's looked pretty well so far too.

Skjei has been bad so far, barely ready for bottom pair minutes right now

Glad to hear Staal is playing well for the Rags. They can't afford to have both him and Girardi being awful.

No interest in having him on the Leafs.

No one is trading for Marc Staal, because no one wants to be forced to protect him in the expansion draft..

If Staal has played his way back to having some value, then I absolutelylisten to the offer. Even more so if it's a place he might consider waving for. The likelihood he stays healthy and his play doesn't regress is not the bet I would make.

Staal doesn't really fit the blueprint

Not every trade has to fit the long term blue print. Bringing in a veteran hard nosed defenceman definitely would help the young guys. Although more expensive then polak I think he is a much better option.
