Marc Bergevin Thread -- How you Drouin?

So there was an interview with Pierre Gervais (Canadiens equipment managers) that was published today, and I found it kind of interesting that MB is "very involved" in the process of number selection for new players. Even going so far as to pick the numbers for players.

I know people on here have posted wondering why the team seems to recycle numbers so often and what the team policy is regarding numbers, so I thought I'd share this since I don't think it's been revealed before today.

Marc sounds like a control freak lol
That's some Vegan Skeletor type stuff right there.

They are basic facts. Just because he had to dig, doesn't change the fact that all he is showing is who were Drouins linemates.

Nothing to be upset over.

Yes, to try and lessen his point total....it's typical HF behaviour.

Anyways, I'll move on from this, and yes, I understand your point

So bringing up basic facts is considered bashing?
Well Filppula had a 50ish point pace before being traded. So he isn't offensively inept.

Seriously I don't know what you're trying to achieve here...

Drouin's most common linemates last season:

Killorn
Filppula
Boyle
Point
Namestnikov

Chucky's most common linemates:

Radulov
Lehkonen
Byron
Pacioretty
Gallagher

I mean...

With the type of mind he seems to have, would not be surprised if he has numerology and astrology books handy to his side. Seems like the superstitious believer type.

Come to think of it, Subban's 76 adds up to 13 which is a big no-no for these type of minds.

Basic facts eh??....im sure these numbers came off the top of your head....seems to me there was quite of bit of googling and research to show Drouin was playing with good linemates so to make his point total look not as good......

But please.....carry on

Didn't take any googling and in total took about 30s to get the information. It took longer to write the post!

I'm not trying to prove anything, but if the expectation is that Drouin will put up huge numbers with us because he will be playing with better offensive talent then it's not likely to happen. He'll probably end up with similar quality players.

But you are also either overrating our forward group or underrating Tampa's.
If we look at the pro-rated production of the 6 most common forwards they average out to 42.2 points for Drouin's linemates and 45.5 for Galchenyuk.

The Montreal Canadiens have the worst center depth, worst defense in the league and franchise history and nothing coming up from the minors. What the hell has bergevin been doing the past 6 years?

Hanging on to the coat tails of Carey Price.

With all those D's leaving, are we sure Bergevin is not in a foetal position somewhere crying? The guy who drools over d-men depth and stability....will he ever be able to be fine after that?

He's good at signing contracts.

So Bergevin is actually a great Cap manager! Just name him at that position!

apologize for my role in that..i'm a person with a lot of pride, need to learn that not ever battle is worth fighting.

At least I know it

Will try to improve on that.

No problem. I can understand how you feel. That's why I try to refrain myself from responding to all the posters that get to me.

I try to remain polite most of the time! Well, I did write MOST of the time, hehehe.

This forum is a great source of info. But it has become a tad toxic at times because of the agressive internet personalities of some. Keep your chin up and stay cool. Most of us are real Habs fans, rooting for the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge. That's all that matters, really.

That's so outlandish that it's basically asking me to interpret your post the other way around.

Define "huge numbers".

I mean, if one expects Drouin to put 80 pts, he's kinda setting himself up to be disappointed and/or should probably do something else than following hockey.

What I take from that is that he's probably working on a few deals to address the D on several fronts

There's no way he doesn't have a plan here as it relates to his defense...

Whether or not it's the right play, remains to be seen, but Engels keeps hinting that big changes are coming.

It's a nerve racking time to be a Habs fan

Getting wingers!

Pacioretty - Radulov
Drouin - Gallagher
Lehkonen - Shaw
Byron/Hudon - McCarron/Martinsen/DLR

is very solid

So to find out who Drouin played with last year (3 players) plus the amount of minutes he played with them individually AND at even strenghth took no googling? You have Tampa Bay Lightning info locked in your head?

So Drouin and a 3rd round pick for sercachev, Belieau and Emelin. Still no center and now need 2-3 dmen. Great stuff.

Post that in the trade proposal thread a year ago and people would be flipping out if it actually came true!

So not sure if you were sarcastic or not but it actually is great stuff.

I find it rather exciting after last summer's huge letdown (altho signing Radu was nice)
