I'd argue that with Pacioretty, Drouin and Galchenyuk, we have one of, if not the very best left side in the entire NHL.

How is that right wing looking? How about LD? That 6 year hole at center really looks fantastic too. So we are good on LW and sorta on RD and G is solid from now until he is terrible.

It was a very very very bad trade. No wonder it's obvious.

You're my nominee for HFHabs Hall of Fame 2017. (Oh we don't do that any more? Ok, you can take Bloumeister's place)

We're here to discuss and learn and commiserate (at times). We don't need to argue. Your post is an example of an informative post that doesn't spin things needlessly but still maintains a slant. Kudos.

It's inevitable that we can all get a bit too emotional with the Habs, a lot of us hold them so close to our heart that we lose control of our ability to be rationale, for and against. I was watching a lecture by Neil deGrasse Tyson where he spoke about the declining trend of religious people from blue collar workers to University graduates, to masters down to PHD graduates. He goes on to say that even if the trend is declining, he has peers who are still very devoted to their religion yet they excel in science. He finishes with saying that what makes them excel as scientist is that they do not let their religion get in the way of their research, they do not prove science with religion, however they attempt to prove religion with science.

I'm just tired of fans on either side of the debate saying the same things without proper evidence. I do not believe in MB, but that does not mean everything he has done was bad. Right now I look at this team and without a PMD and a top quality center (even if Galchenyuk is one of 2 top6) this team is in trouble. I'm incredibly worried at what the transition game will look like with Alzner - Weber. We hear how Galchenyuk will never get the puck out of the zone on D, well what will these two do to keep possession of the pucks once it won? I see A LOT of dump and chase in the Habs future.

With the parity in this league, being a top-10 team makes you a contender.

I'm glad you can be optimistic like this and think that any given team can win any given year. I am more realistic and I look at trends, the Habs don't score in a league that is returning to being dominated by scoring.

Low expectations, less disappointment.

Exactly. I there something in the Molson beer? How the hell are we contenders when we miss so many elements required to win a Cup?

So many zombies here.

I do not understand it myself. I have no problem with people sharing their opinion, as long as it's realized in facts. Let's not get lost in the debate and think one side has all the answers. I just wish it was less of a pissing match and more of level headed discussion.

When you look on paper one could argue that Pittsburgh and Nashville are not contenders either. One "lacks" defense and the other "lacks" offense. Nashville was 8th in their conference.

You can argue whatever you want. When you look at the strength of each of those two, one has the best centers in the NHL that year in and year out make their forward group better. The other has tremendous D corps that outscored any other D group in the playoffs.

The Habs have the best goalie. He doesn't score goals. Even in a playoff series where he allows 12 goals in a 6 game series, his team is eliminated. Price will be a top goalie in the NHL for a long time, but will he have the scoring support? I am very worried about the transition game next year. Dump and Chase has not worked for the Habs in the playoffs where D get away with slowing down the retriever.

It's not black and white. You want to talk about the Habs? Let's talk about the Habs.

Tell me how you evaluate a franchise in a league with 1 champion out of 31 teams? You telling me the trend of the NHL these days isn't goal scoring?

Look at Dallas and Winnipeg lat year.

Look at Dallas and Winnipeg lat year.

What does that even mean?

Do you want to discuss the Habs or not? The Habs have an incredible point percentage when they score 3 or more goals, 92.68%. They need to add more scorers so they can continue to thrive on this.

Winnipeg 76%, Dallas 71%. What did Dallas do this off season? Got D, and got a goalie. Seems like their GM sees the problem and address them.

What does MB do when faced with goal scoring problems? Let's a top6 player (1 of only 3 top6 players on the Habs last year) walk away and brings in another top9 player in Hemsky.
