He's why we're in 1st place, there's no splitting hairs about it. He's been the one constant, and I never thought I could say that, not even at this time of the year. Even when he had his great stretches before there were dud games sprinkled thereabouts, which are why his stats were never that great. Fleury was rarely a .915 goalie, he was more splitting time between being a .940 goalie and a .890 goalie.

And it was a defensive lapse. Left a guy wide open for a deflection. Could have been saved maybe but still can't blame Fleury. Should have had his 7th shutout tonight.

I actually do not understand all the hate for MAF> He had two abysmal playoffs but last year he was really solid and showed that "he can do it in the playoffs." It wasn't his fault Bylsma was an idiot and couldn't adapt.
Give him the Vezina already. His performance tonight was not human. Luongo was good and he looked average compared to Fleury.

Even as a card-carrying MAF doubter, he's been lights out this year.
He'll only prove people wrong if he maintains a high standard these playoffs though. And rightfully so. Guy's got a good 5 years of playoff implosions to atone for.

If you take all the playoffs series and make an average out of it, he really ain't that bad compaired to all the other goalers.
Hell he has a way better record than Price in playoffs, yet i hardly see any hate towards Price...

Without a doubt. This is the most confident I've seen him play in years. It helps to have a good system in front of him that Johnston employs. He's been stellar so far this season.

I think MAF and Bales finally got on the same page this year, last year in the playoffs MAF wasn't in panic mode when he had a bad game, he bounced back and unfortunately the rest of the team didn't, but last year in the playoff was proof enough for me that MAF was turning the corner.
IF we can say Sutter found his game in the playoff last year, we should give MAF that credit as well as he did the same thing.

Whenever Crosby or Malkin go down, Fleury really seems to step up his game. He is very underappreciated. People can go on about his playoff failures, but the team was also at fault.
Hope he keeps it up, would be great to see him win some awards!

First of all, the is no Fleury "hate". He has had a couple of bad playoffs and just about the 2 worst playoff performances by a goaltender in the modern history of the NHL. Even last year he was not very good, I don't know what you watched, but I saw a guy who's team made him look good and who still managed to let in one bad goal in half of the games he played at least. He had 2 decent playoff years but it is very hard for people to forget those 2-3 years where he was just the worst playoff goaltender in the history of the modern NHL. That sticks with people. I hope he does well, not well enough to win the cup or even a playoff round, but I hope the Penguins don't lose because of him, I actually feel sorry for the guy but you can't blame people for having no faith in him. The Penguins announcers were lobbying for him to win the Vezina one of his epic collapse years, he has had good seasons before and had meltdowns in the playoffs.
Until he actually has a good playoff, people will expect him to meltdown the same way everyone expects Crosby to lead the league in scoring. Because going by recent history, it is what they do.

What about those posts that bailed out Luongo? Also, I´m pretty sure that there were less than 5 posts behind MAF last night. Maybe 2 or 3. Nothing strange there.
Yeah, lets not argue abount your hyperbolic number, but hitting posts happens in all hockey games. Are we going to adjust Rinne's and Luongo's (who had as much posts hit on ONE play as Fleury all game) stats accordingly too?
