lol dumbest rules ever, hook happens after the offside and the time goes back and the penalty gets called officially on the gameclock before it actually happened.

Bizarre stuff! Play should be dead, therefore, no penalty!

I bet you anything that checking for offsides will be disallowed next year (or it will have to be those MASSIVE ergious ones).

So now they're giving Hunwick a penalty for a hook that happened after the offside even though the goal was called back because of the offside on the challenge, so everything that happened after the offside, unless blatantly flagrant, should not exist.

What. The. ****.

I don't hate the rule that penalties still count when you rewind the clock after a review, however I think it should be dependent on what kind of penalty it was. Something stupid like taking a run at a guy should still count, but a penalty that was a direct result of a play that shouldn't have happened like hooking, delay of game, too many men, etc should be wiped off the board.

This challenge stuff is the stupidest thing the NHL has put in place since the glowing puck.

I'm not sure linesman understand camera perspective. Iphone screen with a camera angle above and behind and they call it off.

Maybe someone should point out we live in a 3d world and you aren't seeing what you think you are.

You can only wave that off with a camera on the line.

Soooo the refs screw up and need video review to get it right. Now the leafs are on the pk?.... With the wrong player in the box?

If the refs do their job the first time, no penalty exists. You don't hook a player on a scoring chance that never would have happened.

Refs **** up, leafs get a penalty. That's just wrong. If the refs **** up you can't penalize a player for trying to break up a scoring chance that shouldn't have existed. I understand if a player takes a run at a guy from behind or sucker punches someone the call should stick, but a hooking call attempting to break up a play that only existed because the refs didn't do their job should NOT be called. A team shouldn't be penalized for ref incompetence when the play is reviewed.
