McCabe has been a hit on a steal of a ticket but where was pro-scouting on Lafferty? ‘Uh, he’s fast so we need him!’?

Meanwhile the defending champs get Toews for a few 2nds and Nichushkin on a league min deal.

I’ve spoken about this before.

Lafferty was a bit of a hipster pick on the message boards for much of the season. I think people were looking for the next pre-breakout Hagel on that one but I don’t blame people for not actually watching Blackhawks games. I can’t imagine what kind of chore that would have been.

McCabe is solid though. Came as advertised and maybe even better. Just a dependable defenseman.

That guy is just a real 4th liner. Not an AHL call up who got promoted there or a veteran who fell down there. Just a real 4th liner who knows his job and does it very well.
