If Marner is out, I would have attempted to call up Steeves, and put him in a top six position, just to see if he can play with better guys at the NHL level. He deserves a shot, and if it's not going to be here, it's going to be elsewhere next year. 25 goals, 15 assists in 34 games at the AHL level... what more does a guy need to do?

Noting, he's at the AHL All Star game... so maybe not now.. but he deserves a legitimate shot.

Is Marner out again? Notice how good Matthews looked driving the play without Marner

Everytime I suggest to break them up people here argue for keeping them together
PP also looked sharper and faster without him hanging onto the puck. Unlike when he encounters traffic and treats the puck like a hand grenade.

True but you are playing with two 5th lines. Why not use 16 or 88 to drive the 3rd line? Good Luck with that strategy in the playoffs IMO.

If they pick up another center, I like this line up. Bobby McMann is good enough to drive his own line. If he’s got a clean shot on a goalie it’s probably going in.

Interesting lines. I like keeping Domi with Matthews. I think we could construct our lines with 3 combo: Matthews + Domi, Tavares + Marner, and Nylander + McMann. Get a center for 88 and McMann, and that's a great 3rd line.

I actually have zero issue with loading up line two like this IF the plan is to upgrade the third line behind them at the deadline. All for it actually.

We need three effective lines. I don’t really care how we get there
