Having a player like McKenna on an ELC for three years and the cap going up is a great opportunity for the leafs to add the depth and defense they’ve sorely needed
You still count them as championships though. Like do you claim to have won 10 Cups or 24? I always think 24.6 teams championships aren't really all that these days. Saying that as a Habs fan.

Depends what that poster meant by "one of the top teams in the East".There's more than enough talent to think they can definitely be a candidate for a bounce back year.......
The offseason is young though....Let's see what the roster looks like in a few weeks.......
Montreal made the Conference finals 2 years after their rebuild had ended. Leafs were eliminated in the first round for most of their ten years, and two times in second rounds. So what are you trying to say?![]()

Do I think the Leafs have enough pieces to bounce back and be a playoff team? For sure. But when you use terms like "one of the top teams" then, IMO, you're talking about being one of maybe 3 or 4 favorite to come out of the East.
Do you really think they're one of the top 3 or 4 teams in the entire East?

Carolina gets the benefit of the doubt at 1, Florida likely rebounds as another team, and Tampa still has a lot of high end talent as the third.Depending on the rest of the offseason ….. yes
Carolina and Florida are comfortably ahead, beyond that the Leafs should be in the mix with the next tier imo (depending on the off-season of course)Depends what that poster meant by "one of the top teams in the East".

Work hard lmao. I'll believe it when I see it.
Sundin + Hillier + The Arizona guy = Team Tank.Depends what struggling is. Right now my position is they are not a bottom 10 team not even close. Seems the consensus is that the Leafs are some awful team destined for bottom 5 picks.

Peddle
The Kings have had 3 straight first round exits with this dude, just what the Leafs need.
according to like-minded self proclaimed know it alls like your self the Leafs were " easily a play off team" last June too. It's objectively hilarious how wrong you guys are about the Leafs. Honestly mind boggling but easily explained when people don't watch the team at all.
D is already halfway retooled not even July 1 yet and we are adding a superstar to the team plus already have a core of superstars in their prime and prospects tearing up the calder cup final.
Leafs are easily a playoff team

how'd that go?![]()
Ray Ferraro said offensive players in Toronto won't like Hiller's crappy 1-3-1. Hello Matthews and Nylander.
Oh, no worries. We all saw it.A lot of things piled up to make last season what it was.
What gets easily forgotten and ignored by the haters are the Leafs were not some bottom feeder all year. They were still in a playoff spot in Jan even with all the injuries and the bad coaching and drama behind the scenes.
They only really "tanked" once the Olympics ended and Matthews had his season ended. They lost most of the remaining games which got them just barely enough to finish 5th last which ended up winning the lottery.
Just a new coach and system and health makes the Leafs a playoff team, nevermind these moves to retool the defense to be younger and more mobile.

So you're saying that Hiller is perfect for the Leafs?I dont know why Toronto hired one of the dumbest and egotisitical coaches I've ever seen. His stupidity is generational but whats shocking is the ego that comes with it. Hated him with the Kings.
